Well... demaio doesn't really seem like a super technical bassist to me... of course, he's not the last one to arrive...

Then I like Petrucci for this too... I also like his coldness, his clumsiness, which when stated like this may seem like negative traits, but if explored and studied can very well be appreciated like a Pat Metheny (even if it doesn't really relate to u'gazz)... I remember playing Petrucci for my dad, who used to listen to Hendrix; now he listens to Petrucci (but this also means more or less u'gazz).

jetto... not the album, the song... the solo is done in shredder but I meant the whole piece as a whole... maybe one day I won’t like the petruzzolo anymore, but for now I enjoy it (my master enjoys it too despite decades spent studying music)...

sure (hendrix is a genius, even though I really can't stand him..), but answer me this: have you listened to the solo in under a glass moon, metropolis, and night with john petrucci and rudess?

Sure, in the g3, which as you said is a comparison of great personalities, I didn't like it, and it seemed to me that he held back a lot. That Petrucci is a genius seems absolutely undeniable to me: just try listening to the solo in Under a Glass Moon or Metropolis. Then, if you are a musician (like myself, even if young) or have a very keen ear, you can notice Petrucci's genius in every phrase, in every odd time signature, in every change of rhythm, in every shift of accent (listen to The Mirror, it sounds all the same, but in reality it's a constant change of time signatures and accents).

First of all, rHapsody is spelled with an "h" (Luca Turilli is a legend)! I agree that Petrucci in the G3 highlighted all his limitations, especially on stage. Unfortunately, I expected better too, but on other occasions he has always showcased his immense creativity and genius.

do not touch my rhapsody, which certainly draw inspiration from malmsteen (but in a much lesser tone compared to various stratovarius, iron mask, and others...), but undoubtedly have a very original sound. do not touch Petrucci either: he is an excellent guitarist: modest, humble, highly skilled, and essential for the guitar. (Petrucci's scores are studied just like those of malmsteen)
