Ok... let's finish on a high note by saying that Uli Roth is the perfect combination of technique, feeling, and personality (not to mention he has a customized 7-string guitar with a gemstone inlaid that probably cost him his entire career...)

Well... for me, the Theater invented progressive metal... saying that they invented nothing and that they started from already established canons from other bands of the 70s-80s doesn't make sense; it's like saying that those bands from the 70s-80s established nothing because they were inspired by bands from the 60s, which in turn were inspired by bands from the 50s... it makes absolutely no sense... then no one invented anything... I repeat, for me, Dream Theater invented progressive metal, which is not what Rush or Genesis did, nor what Queensrÿche and Fates Warning were doing in the 80s, but it is something "new," which naturally has roots in something "older," just as everything draws inspiration from something else...

... (I knew we were going to mention Queensrÿche and Rush anyway)... I believe there’s a difference between Queensrÿche and Dream Theater. Queensrÿche laid the foundations with Operation: Mindcrime (1988), but Images and Words by Dream Theater is something different, both technically and musically... anyway, that site has users like us, and the same site states "Dream Theater is an American heavy metal band. They are generally regarded as the first and most representative example of the progressive metal subgenre, a blend of classic heavy metal and progressive rock (or neo-progressive). In particular, the release date of Dream Theater's album Images and Words is often cited as the 'birthdate' of progressive metal." fully quoted from Dream Theater - Wikipedia .... who invented progressive METAL?

Oh Marco, I knew too that Hendrix has more feeling than Petrucci, but it seems to me like saying that Petrucci has more feeling than Avril Lavigne's guitarist... it's an utterly obvious and trivial thing (the same goes for Blackmore, Zappa, and co)... okay, Petrucci hasn't made the history of the guitar, he just invented progressive metal (and let's not bullshit, now let's not bring up Rush and Queensryche..), which is a "generator" of excellent guitarists. (Come on, he has made some history then..)
That Malmsteen uses more effects than Romeo is new to me... think that Malmsteen himself claims to (almost) hate effects...
(As for the solid foundations, I'm not responding, for goodness' sake)

Well, to say that Romeo is just a simple clone of Malmsteen seems a bit (very) superficial... Sure, his style might vaguely remind you of Malmsteen, but unlike him, he manages to create truly powerful riffs and solid foundations that significantly deviate from Malmsteen's neoclassical style... Moreover, Romeo uses various effects (like I mentioned before, the wah wah and harmonizers) while Malmsteen, as everyone knows, hates effects.
Also, to say that Petrucci has no feeling is a bit (very) superficial... I can only suggest you listen to "An Evening with John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess": a guitar and a piano, spectacular.
I've listened to Uli Roth a bit with the Scorpions, but I will give him a better listen.

Come on!! Everyone knows that few, if any, will "match the personality" of Hendrix, Vai, Zappa, Satriani, and a few others... but to say that Romeo and Petrucci (who has also written a piece of guitar history by now) lack feeling is pure ignorance. At most, you can say that Hendrix has more feeling... (please)

Well, both Romeo and Petrucci have a strong personality (the former, as many know, is Mister Plectrum, while the latter is the author of some truly powerful riffs and very distinctive solos, often featuring wah-wah and harmonics).
