I will read the other interviews of Mr. Townsend, but someone who hates the stage and wants to lock himself in a studio in Canada for life with only bread and water seems a bit more than crazy to me...

I haven't heard him yet, but reading various interviews, Townsend seems like a really unlikable person to me: it seems impossible that any musician would want to give up live performances and do nothing but record albums.. it also seems disrespectful to listeners and fans.. oh well..

But is it true that it's not very technical anymore?.. I mean, the solos by Turilli and Staropoli aren't what they used to be? (a choice already presented by Luchino in his solo albums..)

I give you 4 for reviewing a great album by a great band (not reviewed yet). The record is truly a masterpiece; I could listen to it for days without getting bored.

the album is very beautiful, although a bit difficult... spot-on review (the only criticism: the growl vocals aren't the most original, but it's acceptable)

Of course, before saying that tapping is useless, something must have happened to you... a purely subjective and baseless opinion. I prefer to hear 20,000 notes with legato and tapping from Vai in 2 seconds rather than listen to Gilmour's 3 bends per minute. You might disagree, but you can't say that tapping is self-serving...
