The review is great, rich in details, much more than mine, I admit. Maybe I was a bit too harsh on this album when I reviewed it, but 4 stars seem like too many; I would give it 3. PS. I own the version you mentioned, bought used of course... see ya!

Sure, it’s not a spectacular debut, that’s clear, but as always I look at the bright side: I didn’t know Maurizio Pollini as a Chopin interpreter, and judging by the opinions of industry experts (Grasshopper, josi_, etc., etc...), the performance is definitely noteworthy... however, I’ll give you some advice: if you don’t want to be outshined, especially in the classical genre of DeB, next time write a bit better and something more.

Despite so many other works of this kind, I would save this one with a 4, nothing more. I don't think it turned out that badly in its intentions and results. Your judgment seems a bit biased to me, in the sense that you side with those who hate these megalomani... I think like you: "for guitarists only, but to be listened to with discernment..." after all, blinders never help...
