Guns n' Roses Use Your Illusion II

The review is nice, even if it’s a bit too long. Kudos. The album ... really sucks (the first CD is much better). The legend is true, the billions of fans who went to see them, the fame and all the rest, but to give it 4/5 is another thing: it seems to me they’ve always been all show and no substance (except for "Appetite for destruction", of course). I wouldn’t compare it to other albums, especially to Nevermind (!!) which is quite different from this “chocolaty” record. But if someone likes it...

It actually deserves a 0; I didn't give it one because a 1 seemed excessive to me...

"Sorry Mayhem, I can't rate your review because I can't find the right adjectives to express your ignorance about music and bands without being vulgar or offensive. But how dare you judge so harshly a band you know nothing about (for your information, Mayhem, the singer of GD is named Billie Joe and his last name is Armstrong...) if you think that "JOE" (and I underline JOE) is out of tune, well, then I really don't know what to say. I want to inform everyone that Green Day's music is not commercial or pretentious, it's not vain music, full of itself, nor "BORING"... I remind you and everyone else that Billie Joe can play only with three strings, and I don't think he sees himself as a tough guy; he admits it with humility and without issues. If you hate Green Day, that's your problem, you need to be impartial in your reviews. Enough, I don't want to say more because I don't want to waste my breath... maybe I will reply again later... we'll see."
With all due respect to the great musician Billie Joe (Armstrong). I may be a chronic ignoramus, but coming from you, it almost seems like a compliment: given the superficiality with which you write and judge music. Remember that like everyone else, you always listen to what you like: I don’t want to convince anyone, but keep in mind that Green Day is commercial. That's what I've said.
There are great musicians who, despite the three strings, play the SAME NOTE for 10 minutes, what does that have to do with it? Green Day might be beautiful, YOU MIGHT LOVE THEM TO DEATH, but they are TERRIBLY commercial, for the reasons I stated. And commercial music goes on MTV. The other music, that one, you will never see anywhere, you’ll have to look for it.
Insult me, I don’t understand why you hold back: you could have called me an extremist, but calling me ignorant... seems like a random insult, like many others. And this display of pseudo civility ("without being vulgar or offensive") drives me crazy... How many bands do you know to make that comparison? What do GD have that others don’t? What makes them amazing? WHY DO YOU LIKE THEM? What criteria do you use to judge music? We need to talk about this, none of us are music historians. I may be a jerk...

Sorry, but I really don't understand the hostility in my review of Green Day: I've written tons of others about semi-unknown or rediscovered bands, which should be more stimulating to discuss. However, except for rare cases, after one week (on average): topic closed. For once, I talk about a "commercial" CD (because that's what it is) that happens to play in my stereo, and people go wild, writing about it for days and days.
Let's face it: as much as NO ONE among the anonymous spammers wants to admit it, "fans" make purchases (go to concerts, buy CDs, t-shirts, ...) driven by the media more than one might believe: despite this, go tell a Green Day fan that they are as commercial as Coca Cola and Nike, and you risk your life... It's hard for anyone to really write here what they think, especially because the taste for provocation and gratuitous insults almost always prevails...

Slipknot Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)

Well... let's say I really like Slipknot (a lot), despite the fame of being a "hybrid band." But this album is objectively terrible: at first, I thought almost like you, "Sure, something new, almost experimental," but then I found it too pretentious, too clumsy. Too unnatural for them. The review isn't bad, although (maybe) you should've cut it down in some places, and it doesn't really convey what kind of music our guys make (in fact, it's hard to explain...!). Bye!
