AA.VV. Lost Highway Soundtrack
Voto:
The film is a must-see, and the particularly fitting soundtrack makes it even more valuable. I need to find this CD...
Cannibal Corpse "Eaten Back To Life"

I don't believe that "Eaten Back to Life" is a 5/5 album, because I've always thought that the best of CC's production can be found in the subsequent titles (most notably, "Vile" and "Tomb of the Mutilated": but even the very latest ones aren't too shabby). I'm saying this as a fan of the band, a bit reluctantly, and despite the flaws I point out (rightly), it remains one of the best in the genre. Despite their being monothematic, monochord, predictable, or whatever you want to call it: even though the lyrics aren't exactly philosophical treatises. But are we sure that we don't occasionally need a genuinely raw band, if you will useless, straightforward, capable of churn out 3 practically identical, hyper-technical, and so heavy albums in recent years that you can't even notice the difference between them? Are we sure that every now and then we don't need to balance our "prog" listens with a healthy metal smoothie from our Californians? Ultimately, it's a fairly "focused" and important album in its genre, but definitely not a 5/5: however, as we know, ratings on Debaser are almost always rounded up. Good review.
Einstürzende Neubauten Kollaps

noooo... the Einstürzende Neubauten!!!! I discovered them very recently and I quite like them: I heard "Zeichnungen das Patienten OT" from 1983 and it’s pure madness... I will listen to this, sooner or later.

Il Balletto di Bronzo YS

Said a bit abruptly, they sound like Led Zeppelin with the singer from Cugini di Campagna. Said a bit more delicately, it's a good album, showcasing decent ideas and great technique, but with the major flaw of a truly nauseating voice that has little to do with the proposed themes and musical style. It was very "flower children" to sing that way, but it really has nothing to do with the rest: it's not even a deliberate bold move; it seems done half-heartedly. However, some might say it's “just” a matter of habit, that it depends on the era in which the album was made, and despite everything, I think that too: moreover, it is still a concept of considerable merit - the lyrics are NOT banal in my opinion - but that voice... it's truly a punch in the stomach, and ruins what could have been a masterpiece. A bit of the same problem as the (should I say it? I’ll say it) Dream Theater. Thankfully, the "Italian progressive" catalog offers plenty of choices...

I don't know them, what can you tell me about them?
Death SS Heavy Demons
Voto:
"we're the heavy demons heavy metal demons"... despite the somewhat (?) clichéd lyrics and the melody squeezed in, this album is truly beautiful. It’s proof that some Italian metal bands have a reason to exist.
Death SS The Story Of 1977/1984
Voto:
Aside from pseudo-Nazi references that are convenient for the usual intellectuals, I really like Death SS and they have been essential. Heavy Demons is a small masterpiece!
