Pink Floyd A Saucerful Of Secrets

No Caz, I'm sorry but my vote remains 2. As I explained to you, I didn't want to give an objective and critical judgment, but simply a personal, emotional one about the album. If I don't like it, I can't write 5; it would feel like I'm saying something false, you know? (In fact, this damned 5-point system... my vote is actually less bad: 7-). I've always used this method to rate in comments. You might have followed another methodology, the "critical" vote. And yours is also a valid way to approach it. When I want to express a judgment in a critical, objective, and impersonal way, I will do so not in a quick comment, but with a proper review, well-written and well-argued. In that case, the vote will have a different meaning, consistent with the analysis. This is how I see it: it's just a point of view, open to debate. I hope you understand. Bye!! :-)

uhm, you're right Caz, maybe I should have explained such a low rating. While I am aware of the importance of the album, and the emotions it evokes with every listen, the rating reflects my very personal judgment, and the fact that I can't help but make comparisons. It seems insignificant to me when compared to the debut album, the first three singles, and especially to Barrett's two solo albums, which I love to bits. There you go :-)

(...joking aside) Permeated by light and shadows, the album is somewhat unsuccessful, but it reflects the period in which it was born, and it was fundamental for the subsequent career of Pink Floyd and for many bands that found inspiration in their work. The intro of "Let There Be More Light" set a precedent - Placebo (explicitly), Muse, Tool... Radiohead pays tribute to Waters with a beautiful track, "Where I End and You Begin," clearly inspired by "Set the Controls...". A great emotion is "Jugband Blues," always. For discerning palates.

Hello, my name is George Gordon and I wanted to tell you that this record is beautiful and the Pin Floi are a truly fantastic band. Personally, I've listened to a lot of music, from the Who to U2 and even from the 60s including the Pu, and I can confidently say that an album with 6 psychedelic tracks and 1 decent one deserves a spot among the best albums of the last 10 minutes. And live, they are just too legendary, like at Live Otto (by the way, who was playing the bass?).

...eh?? What "compliments" are you talking about? You called me "Mughini," instead. And I pointed out that you "have the arrogance." I don't think I behaved rudely or insulted you. But shouldn't we be talking about music here???? If you like this album, say so. And feel free to argue, just like I do (as long as you allow me to). Finally, I want to point out that even though I demolished "The Miracle," I went out of my way to defend your favorite band in other forums (Innuendo, News of the World, A Night At The Opera, Queen II). Take a look if you don't believe me! :-)

Everyone stand still! uh... let's go back a bit to 1,2... 7 comments. There’s this JB - not authenticated - who writes: "I've listened to everything, Genesis, Yes, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, Caravan, Gong, the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, etc. And I assure you that Queen are great (...). Greetings to everyone. LONG LIVE QUEEN AND DOWN WITH U2!" ... what do you say, Peppe: could it be George Gordon who regrets the outrage (http://www.debaser.it/recensionidb/ID_4696/U2_All_That_You_Cant_Leave_Behind.htm) and is now trying to sneak back onto DeBaser under a false name? :-) (if not, welcome, JB!).

x zaireeka: Uhm, it has happened to me a ton of times to find traces in the records of great foreign musicians that resembled Italian songs. However, I don’t think these are premeditated plagiarisms (or at least I hope not!). The latest I discovered is a song by Aerosmith, titled "Face" (from "Just Push Play," 2001), which sounds incredibly similar to... "Piccola Katy" by Pooh (try it to believe...). Well, what can I say: now I'm curious to listen to Macca's album :-)
