The Frozen Autumn Is Anybody There?
Voto:
I must have a barano of theirs somewhere in some compilation, they weren't bad at all.
Ingmar Bergman Il settimo sigillo
Voto:
I’m very curious about it, but I haven't had the chance to see it yet. From Bergman, I’ve only seen "Monica and the Desire" and "The Virgin Fountain," both quite interesting.

Honestly, I don't even find the tracks you pointed out as successful to be so, except for "Love," which is actually not bad. I couldn't stand "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" when I was twenty, and I still can't stand it now; it feels like yet another rehash of the grunge stereotype. The only thing I appreciate about "1979" is the drumming, while "Tonight Tonight" is at most nice, just for the video. I wouldn't consider "Porcelina of..." an absolute mess if it weren't for that terrible FM rock chorus they cram in. And yes, on the second album, it can make you sick with diabetes, especially if you're already drained from listening to the first one. It's been a while since I listened to it, but I remember tracks like "Beautiful" and "Lily" being truly devastating (for one's sanity), pieces that wouldn't have even been written by the Backstreet Boys in a creative crisis. "Overall, the album is the exaltation of the rock stereotype." YES, I agree, "it is too verbose and pretentious in trying to play a bit of everything." YES, I totally agree. An album I would have gladly spared myself from listening to if it weren't still incredibly hyped by critics and the public, which led me to pay attention to it.
Bon Jovi One Wild Night: Live 1985-2001

For me, Bon Jovi are like Inter at San Siro: a constant.
Fausto Brizzi Notte Prima Degli Esami

A cheesy little film that relies entirely on the nostalgia for the '80s, which is so trendy right now. For those who lived through that era, however, the reconstruction is not only clumsy but at least implausible: in '89, dancing to "Wild Boys" by Duran Duran and "Gioca Jouer" by Cecchetto was out of fashion and, to say the least, incredibly uncool, especially at a chic party. Just as it was impossible for an eighteen-year-old to walk around in a "Goldrake" t-shirt. A revival that feels like the '80s were condensed into a single year. Clumsy.
Michael Jackson Thriller

I never liked Jacko, but now there’s a guy born already white named Justin Timberlake who makes millions of dollars imitating him, really annoying. It’s getting worse and worse, I’d say.

This time lux you and I agree (aside from the vote, of course).
Alex Britti MTV Unplugged

But does an MTV Unplugged by Britti really exist?
Einstürzende Neubauten Tabula Rasa

"work that might feel like a compromise": yes, indeed I prefer the earlier or later things. "Die interimsliebenden" particularly gets on my nerves because it sounds like Phil Collins singing over an electro-industrial track discarded by Depeche Mode. Nevertheless, "12305 (die nacht)" and "Headcleaner" are good. For me, it's a 3 out of 10, but I would like to reassess it after listening to the recently released double-disc version.
Oasis (What's The Story) Morning Glory?
Voto:
If you read my comments on the reviews of "Some Great Reward," you can notice that a certain way of making songs bothers me regardless of whether they are by DM, NIN, or Oasis. In fact, I consider it their worst album (even though it's not entirely throwaway), but I don't think "baroque" is an appropriate term for Depeche, who are sometimes indeed emphatic but never waste a note (as the new wave school dictates). In "Violator," "Ultra," and "Playing the Angel," the quality varies quite a bit from track to track as in every Depeche album, but generally, they are more than good albums with notable artistic peaks. Of course, if "Violator" doesn't say much to you, it's hard to believe that DM could ever appeal to you. You might try "Songs Of Faith And Devotion," which is a bit of an outlier in their career (so it could appeal to you more but could also disgust you more).
