And then an unsettling question: if the Nomads, after the departure of almost all their original members, had changed their name, would anyone still care about them?

Really nice. But the individual grades were on a scale of ten, right?

You've piqued my curiosity quite a bit; am I asking too much by asking for a sample?

Already Glenn Branca, who only produced the four tracks of the self-titled EP from 1980. For the rest, they relied on Wharton Tiers, another musician from the No Wave scene, making his debut as a producer. Tiers later went on to do very significant work, including producing the early Sonic Youth records.

No Kosmo, after 1982 they returned to their usual occupations, namely photographic art and video art. They are still active; if you do a search online with their names, you'll find something, especially about Barbara Ess and Gail Vachon. It doesn't seem like they've done anything musical since then. They no longer work together, but it seems they all meet up for each other's birthdays.

And I didn't compare "By the way" (which, I repeat, I've never listened to) with "Blood Sugar..". I just said that "Can't Stop" is my favorite song by the Red Hot, obviously among those I know.

Congratulations on the phrase "And then to get to know them you certainly don't need to listen to Blood Sugar and Californication, but rather Blood Sugar...". Anyway, I will also get around to listening to the entire "Freaky Styley", don't worry. Just know that there can also be people who have different tastes than yours ("Give It Away", for example, gets on my nerves).

Great review, just the right amount of originality. The YMG were already on my long shopping list; a while ago I had come across them in a store but then opted for the excellent record by Y Pants (which, coincidentally, I reviewed almost simultaneously). From the truly exquisite samples I've heard, I now know what I've been missing. Rating 5 for the samples.

At least you could have included the samples.

You almost won me over, Crazy One, but you lost me in the end with your unnecessary personal rant. For me, this is a nice album but a bit too "cold"; I prefer the stuff you did afterwards.
