The first paragraph is unreadable. For the rest, I didn't quite understand the review. I don't get what you mean... anyway, IFind that if anything, it's the track "9 Crimes" that is more rooted in "O", and not the rest. I rather find songs like "Elephant," "Rootless Tree," and "Grey Room" to be excellent showcases of his work.
Then I don't find it transitional at all. In my opinion, it's a great second chapter in a career that has a lot to offer. It seems clear to me his greater dexterity and improved refinement of his songwriting.
