Franco Battiato Shock In My Town

I respond right away and with pleasure, because I thought this review had already fallen into oblivion... what can I say... I'm not entirely disagreeing with you, especially in the general discourse. I don’t know if "Shock in my town" is a clever song in an absolute sense. I believe a clever song is one that resonates a bit with everyone: instead, "SIMT" is a piece that could, as it is, only be composed by Battiato, although I agree with you that it’s a piece that can appeal to many. You appreciate "Stage Door": eureka!... you are among a select few! It’s probably my favorite song... imagine, I used a line from it as the opening of my thesis... let’s see if you can guess which one... I greet you... voiceface

your clarification was practically unnecessary... for me, Battiato is a genius...
Franco Battiato La Voce Del Padrone

Perhaps some aspects of what you say are indeed shareable, but very little... The title "La voce del padrone" is intentional, because Battiato was asked for an album that could sell, and so it was; if it’s a commercial album in the worst sense of the term, then I’d rather listen to another hundred commercial albums like this one... Another discussion is about new wave, which Battiato criticizes as a prime example of the inability to classify music and the tendency toward proliferating genres, which has reached the most ridiculous levels just in recent years... Finally, I wouldn’t simply define the album as clever; frankly, that is at least reductive. We are facing a devastating album in terms of the quantity of ideas. It’s not just about a few phrases in Arabic here and there, which, by the way, the album doesn’t even contain, but rather a dazzling series of musical and linguistic inventions that only a genius could conceive. I do not believe there was anything remotely comparable in Italy before and during that time (the example of Area is once again contrived), and perhaps even abroad. Another discussion, which is then the one, if I may say so, most relevant, is to debate whether Battiato’s genius found its maximum expression in this album made to please, or in something else... To this not trivial question, I have not yet given myself an answer... Regards, voiceface.

a genius of classical music, no, but a great orchestral arranger for pop records, yes... the concert is held in Naples, Arena Flegrea...
