Beautiful memories... "My wife was by the river, sir, washing, and a gringo attacked her and wanted..."
The Beatles Let It Be... Naked

As far as I know, the exact phrase should have been spoken by Ringo and it was something like this: "Do you remember when everyone started analyzing the Beatles' songs? Well, I never understood how they managed to find certain things in them."

Little man walked up and down,
To find an eatin' place in town.
He looked the menu thru and thru,
To see what a dollar bill might do.
One meat ball,
One meat ball,
One meat ball,
All he could get was one meat ball.
He told that waiter near at hand,
The simple dinner he had planned.
The guests were startled one and all,
To hear that waiter loudly call.
Little man felt so ill at ease,
He said: "Some bread Sir, if you please."
The waiter hollered down the hall:
You get no bread with your one meat ball.
Little man felt so very bad,
One meat ball is all he had.
And in his dreams he can still hear that call
You get no bread with your one meat ball.

I still want to point out that for several years now, there has been a logo on its covers depicting a skull with a cigarette in its mouth...
Bruce Springsteen Born In The U.S.A.

Anyway, regarding the song "Born in the U.S.A.," I believe the acoustic version on "Tracks" is superior by a long shot; it does much more justice to the lyrics (which, in fact, were dramatically misunderstood by many at the time, including Ronald Reagan).

True, it's one of the important names I had forgotten, by the way I have it.
Bob Dylan Slow Train Coming
Voto:
If only the critics of that time had LISTENED to him instead of relying solely on the texts (without understanding a damn thing about them), they not only wouldn’t have slaughtered him, but they would have found it one of Bob Dylan's masterpieces.

I should preface that I don't want to piss anyone off and that my statement claiming that true punk existed from 1976 to 1980 is a bit exaggerated (and for this I apologize). It is true that from the early '80s, a good portion of the '77 punk bands channeled their nihilism into dark sounds. After that, I didn't really keep up with the genre much, and it’s possible that my foggy middle-aged brain has forgotten some important names, sorry. But when I hear a punk band today, I can't help but compare them to the bands from back then, and often (for my tastes, mind you) it's painful... Bye.

True punk groups existed from 1976 to 1980. After that, punk was just a commercial phenomenon.
