Invitation that I reciprocate. In this regard, Mr. Nobody, considering your expertise, we expect some little things from you. Or are you also acting as an author in the DeB reviews, under false pretenses? Tell us, tell us... Then I will take the lead on a petition in favor of black on white. Damn, it’s a struggle to read you in gray. It's fine to honor your nickname, but I believe we would recognize you just as well, and surely better, in clear text. Or are you working for an eye doctor? ;) Bye.

I type DeB Dj Spooky and nothing comes up! What a shame! Yet, just take a look at his website under "sounds" and you get the profile of an artist (not just someone who makes music) of our time. I guess we need to roll up our sleeves. So Zion, I’m waiting for good news about him as well, optometry would be a great start.

Mr. Nobody "against..." was meant ironically. There’s no desire to oppose, just a bit of sadness in seeing the list of reviews where 9 out of 10 are in the past (often long gone). It’s lovely when it comes to discovering magnificent things like Alfred Schnittke, but tell me, what more can be said about Clapton, Bennato, Ligabue, Osborne, just to name a few recent ones? Of course, nostalgia is a commendable feeling, but perhaps this trend reflects a sort of closure towards the "new that is advancing"...

Music not for every hour. Magnificent just like the review. I’ll add two biographical notes. Born in the Soviet Union to German parents of Jewish descent. He grew up in occupied Vienna. He was baptized a Christian at 48 in an Orthodox country. He was divided between Russia and Germany, where he spent his last years. For those who want to know more, Phaidon Press has dedicated a book to him that tells his story.

x Zion and x Kosmo: I saw your list of reviews. It’s impressive. I had already read several and appreciated your skills. Am I wrong or have they become a bit sparse lately? That’s why the invitation becomes more pressing… against the old nostalgic listeners.

Picking up on Lele's provocation, I agree that "new" electronic music is not enough on its own. But this has always been a prerogative of great composers who express themselves with these "tools." Kraftwerk, for instance, have always had a world to tell through videos, graphics, and sounds. Another great like Nitin Sawhney uses electronic skills to "make people dance" but also to weave sounds, voices, and traditional instruments. He too creates images, video documents, promotes artists, etc. Another example is DJ Spooky, who also incorporates literature. In short, I believe that in these cases, the notion of musician/composer is limiting. We are faced with new humanists, that is, contemporary artists who offer us a vision of the world through various forms, of which music is only a significant component.

Guys, I'm throwing out an invitation to focus more on contemporary music of a certain level. It’s true we’re not many on Debaser, but have you seen the latest batch of reviews? Between Lolli, De Gregori, Santana, Hendrix, Dalla, etc., we seem like a bunch of nostalgics. It is true that we live in reactionary times, but a bit of novelty wouldn't hurt. So even if we're not many, let’s get on with the reviews ;-)

Look, I think the most interesting things come from musicians who go beyond the concept of electronic music. That is, people like Murcof, Aphex Twin, and the like create contemporary music on par with Jan Garbarek, Robert Wyatt, and in the past, Arvo Pärt, Górecki, etc. Then everyone chooses the instruments they find useful to express a sound that, I repeat, is extremely contemporary. A composer and visual artist representing today's excellence, for me, is Carsten Nicolai aka Alva Noto, head of the label Raster Noton. Recently seen in Italian theaters along with a certain Sakamoto in an event of shocking impact. Still on the more electric side, innovators to follow include Icheda and Fennesz. In the jazz-adjacent realm, I would like to highlight Unforscene, authors of a beautiful album "New World Desorder," and among the few from Britain still capable of producing interesting things.

Well, yes, I would say it has turned eighteen, at least, after the debut of Kraftwerk.

But really, no one saw them live? I can’t share that unique, memorable, adrenaline-fueled experience I had at their concert. Modena, early '90s, in an open, peripheral area. Everything happened above and below the stage. To name one, Manu Chao improvised a soccer game with part of the audience on stage while the band continued to churn out irresistible rhythms.
