I’m from Reggio Emilia. But I believe that’s relative. A medium-small city just like Lecce. I invite you to think – as we used to – of your city as if it were the center of the world. Then gather other motivated people like you. Then meet up, discuss, and argue about the project. Seek possible funding. And in the South, there are especially CEE funds. Present your project to the municipality and the region (there’s Vendola, not just anyone) and look for allies and workarounds. We found the Arci. And get started. I repeat, it’s not about the area. There are excellent examples even in the South. In Campobasso, in Catania (www.zoculture.it). Not everything is lost, quite the opposite. At most, you can say you gave it a try.

Welcome reports of this kind. Andrea certainly pushes forward in directions that might be challenging but could be rewarding. The first sample fascinates me, that of the sound of the flushing toilet, but if it continues like this for 10 minutes, well, just a little, ehm, you know what I mean...
Afro Celt Sound System Volume 1: Sound Magic

So many reviews have come out these days, and it's hard to keep up. Yours are a guarantee. But I haven't listened to this album much. Yes, the musical idea is nice, but here's what happens: after the first wow track, the second is nice, by the third I yawn, and by the fourth, I turn it off... Maybe I'm too western ;)

We're talking about DJ and club culture, and I feel compelled to share something myself, namely a concrete example. Because generalizing and always blaming the system is fine, but only up to a point. Several years ago, along with a group of friends, we set ourselves a goal. We were tired of the trend, the fake clubs, and the relationship economy that takes precedence over everything in Italy. The aim was to create a club like the ones we dreamed of and visited in London or Paris. In 1995. We were ten, some as DJs, others as graphic designers, etc. We tried and we succeeded; we self-financed. We spent hours in the cold of a little hut making membership cards. Cleaning up, exhausted, at 5 in the morning, etc. Two years of hard work. At first, we had a small crowd because we were playing the music we liked. Back then, it was electronic, techno, and forerunners in Italy of drum’n’bass. Then we allowed ourselves some indulgences and endless satisfactions. The club still exists today; it has grown stronger. The club is called Maffia and it has served as an example for other venues that were born in the wake of that success. That's why I quote Odradek when he invites us to make sure "people" come to you. We succeeded, and this changed the lives (not just one night) of all those who believed in it.

Laibach and Front 242 were defunct passions that you resurrect with this proposal. But the moods, at least mine, have changed, and I steer clear of these territories even though your review is enticing.

I'm also stuck on Bamba, but the way you describe this original Messico e Nuvole really excites me. Let's wait for some sound fragments.

If every era has its fools, I am glad, despite everything, to live in one where Capossela is the most successful representation of them. As a result, we have happy and passionate descriptions like yours.
