Music that demands engaged listening. Its vocal timbre may seem challenging to those accustomed to drifting far from the Far East. That said, the album is enigmatic and twilight-like, rich in a fragility that at times can appear affected. Beautiful description.

Curiously, I was just listening to it again this morning. A double album that marked an era and has aged quite well, unlike most of its peers. The 4 Heros are back with a soul album that’s getting a lot of praise. A review a bit too over-the-top.

A perfect summary for an album that one could listen to endlessly. Zorn's talent lies not only in his speed and inventiveness but also in demanding the best from the musicians. And here, everyone is in a state of grace. Above all, Marc Ribot, perhaps at his best performance ever.
