I bought the CD in Bologna for 22.90 euros. It’s really impressive aesthetically, even though that somewhat distracted me from the music it might contain. For now, Vicarious seems great, Jambi will be a tough one to digest, Wings for Marie gives me chills... there’s still so much to listen to.

By technique, I meant virtuosity, and, as much as I enjoy it, it’s not hard to understand that it is more than anything a way to impress (after all, the 17th century sees the baroque flourish, and as we know well, the baroque must first and foremost astonish), which is why I defined it as sterile. This is what my rational side says, of course. The part that instead puts on the record and presses "play" prefers to focus solely on its beauty...

I don't understand why Vivaldi continues to be considered superficial and emotionally unengaging. He certainly gave a lot of space to "sterile" technique, but I swear to you that when I hear this work, I really dive into it. It sounds like the discussions about Dream Theater. Anyway, I don't know anything about Brahms, so... actually: any recommendations?
