Seen by chance and against my will in Bologna a few days ago. An embarrassing show: average age of the audience, 16 years. Parents outside the Estragon, waiting. The MCR welcomed with roars like Michael Jackson. The new singer, a bit too pretentious, totally inappropriate. The new songs, either flat or incredibly dull. The new video ridiculous, set in Venice, with a melody that sounds like it was written by Prophilax. But above all, the violinist-guitarist. That one really needs to go. Full of himself, unbuttoned shirt, solos (?!?) played with the guitar vertically and a foot on the monitor, not even Slash would do that. An indescribable thing. I sang a few old songs, just to justify the 12 euros for the ticket. I had never seen them live, maybe it would have been better if I had kept my curiosity.
Mastodon Remission

I just listened to it now that I found it original, and I felt like an idiot. By now, I had gotten used to the "polished" sounds of Crack the Skye and Blood Mountain. But hearing this album, not only did I rediscover the more raw and dirty Mastodon, with incredibly hard yet dynamic sounds; but above all, I significantly re-evaluated Leviathan, simply because many of the ideas found there are present here: just compare the intro of "Ol'e Nessie" with the reprise at 7 minutes into "Hearts Alive"... This album is full of riffs and crazy drum rolls, and listening to it today was an absolute pleasure.

Wow, here we're talking about "In Rainbows," "The bands"... Clearly, the RH attract distortions; anyway, I've heard the first tracks of this album streaming, and it seemed quite difficult to listen to, a bit in line with Kid A. We'll see...

On this site, Sanremo has been reviewed since back then.
AA.VV. Sanremo 2011

The worst-managed festival I have ever seen. Mistakes everywhere, organization nonexistent, bewildering interviews, a host completely out of his depth. Sanremo is a behemoth to direct live, you can't have Morandi who can't even read the teleprompter, or who interviews international guests with that awkward peasant look. I don't understand how he wasn't harshly criticized by the newspapers. 90% of the "artists" sang poorly (note: Pezzali is pathetic and the song childish, but he hits all the notes). It's nice that Vecchioni won, but the song is melodically absent. The review has some guts.

Hehe! As time went by, I realized that the real reviews, here on de-b, are in the comments... The review itself, when not particularly inspired, I prefer to be short :)

Guiltily, I was not familiar with John Dyer Baizley, but that didn't stop me from appreciating the beautiful cover (by the way, "dyer" in English means "tinter," a predestined name). I believe the album is very good; when I saw there were no reviews, I jumped right in!

But he's not unpleasant, he's just an idiot, and if he's pretending then he's a real idiot. Especially because he's 40 years old. The cover is - once again - incredibly ugly and cheap. However, he makes a lot of nice little songs, you know, I like them. He is undoubtedly the emblem of the musical ignorance of Italians, but he is not the cause of it.

Great Stefano, I only know a bit about the previous one but now it's time to dive deeper!
