Seen last night, it reminded me of an episode from my childhood. It was the year 199-something, I and my friends were between 18 and 20, when something bad happened to our friend Gigetto. Gigetto was doing stuff with his girlfriend in Mom and Dad's bed when, at a certain point, his frenulum detached. It turned into a mess: blood everywhere, rushed to the hospital, they stitched him up, and he had to go through something like a month and a half of total sexual abstinence. That episode really shook us: between the insane pain he must have felt and the crapshow with his girlfriend, his parents, her parents, the paramedics, schoolmates, etc., I don’t know what was worse. That said: nice movie, but not exactly spot on. The secondary characters are really poorly handled (e.g., the parents, the couple of friends who disappear after the first fifteen minutes), the acting is subpar, and the protagonist's change is a bit too sudden and not entirely justified (unless you want to brush it off with "she needed a good screw"). However, it does manage to create tension, play with the gore, and at least a couple of scenes are quite nice (the one with the gynecologist above all).

In theory, I'm in a meeting and can't see him, but I trust him! :) The funniest thing about Afghanistan remains my father, who every time he tries to pronounce it gets all tangled up and has to say it one letter at a time like American kids in spelling bees. Most of the time, though, he gives up and sums it all up with the equally thorough "Fucking Taliban!"
