Dalton Trumbo E Johnny Prese Il Fucile
Voto:
There is a sentence in the introduction to the 1970 edition of the book (the only one I managed to recover, by the way, not entirely legally..) that has stuck with me, even more than the book itself: "The Library of Congress reports that the Office of the Surgeon General's Military Bureau for Medical Statistics does not have data regarding single or multiple amputations. Either the Government does not consider them important, or the military, while being sure of how many tons of bombs have been dropped, cannot tell us precisely how many legs and arms their men have lost." The film – which I saw centuries ago – was somewhat of a disappointment, but I believe that Trumbo's work as a whole is monumental.

You have a talent for synthesis and effectiveness that I envy greatly.. congratulations!.. I watched this film ages ago and, to be honest, it didn't impress me much.. at least compared to other films by the same director. You've made me want to see it again!! Bye!

A film I find quite detestable: after two minutes, you already know how the story will unfold and, above all, how it will end. It didn't make me laugh; the only funny scenes were used up in the trailers, and by the time they made it to the screen, they had completely lost their comedic effect. And above all: is this supposed to be an "impossible," "tyrannical," "diabolical" boss?!? The writers should spend a week in my office, then we'll talk. Lastly: how much damn advertising did they give it?!? Bah!! uxO forgive me, but from the review, it seems like a decent little comedy... while, in my opinion, it’s a piece of trash. Bye!

..mmm.. you're right.. I have to say that when it comes to "historical" films like this one, where everyone has already said a bit of everything, it's practically impossible to say something truly new: if you write everything, it seems like you've copied. If you leave something out, some nitpicker (like me..:DDD!!!) will always find a flaw!!.. just out of curiosity (and mainly so I can avoid writing more reviews for nothing! :D): do you plan to do more reviews on Bava?! Bye!

My favorite by Bava!!.. crazy.. you stole two reviews from me in two days!!:DDD!.. there are some real directorial genius moments here, like the use of out-of-focus shots (the famous eye of the assassin-sun). Many critics have pointed out that the entire film has almost a "documentary" feel, with all the characters moving like the insects in an entomology experiment, while nature-bay (the object of the protagonists' desires) remains impassively watching. The ending is absolutely fantastic (so much so that during production, the film was referred to as something like "When the Greats Play the Villains".. :DDD!). I hope I don't come off as a bore, but this is the ancestor of the slasher, not of the splatter!:DD!! Bye!

..I abandoned the world of flashy guitar a while ago, and I didn't know this guy. After reading your review, I took a stroll on YouTube and found some of his videos.. This guy is a monster!!.. he does two or three minutes of sweep solos and always has the same expression, as if he’s watching Marzullo.. wow, what fingers.. his girlfriend must be thrilled.. No need to say I got bored out of my mind in no time. I completely agree with every observation you made. See you!
George A. Romero La notte dei morti viventi

As I said, I also think the second one remains the best (if only for the idea of the mall as a new earthly paradise, etc. etc.). However, this one has the magnitude of the original: it’s raw, and when watched today, in some moments it’s laughable (just think of the face of the first zombie: it’s supposed to be terrifying but instead it resembles that of a maniac in the park..), yet it was so effective that it rewrote the figure of the zombie (or at least of a "monster") in the collective popular imagination, much to the chagrin of Michael Jackson and the "Thriller" video (how many other films have managed that? After Romero, I would say Hooper with "Texas..", and maybe nowadays - but I believe over twenty years have passed - only the first "Nightmare." Michael Myers doesn’t really fit into the extra-horrific pop culture. Jason Voorhees is a bit more fitting, but not everyone associates him with "Friday the 13th" since he hadn’t yet donned the hockey mask..). Plus, all the social critique issue, certainly not developed as in the future, but still placed in a context where neurons rarely find space to be so clear. That’s all!!:DD! Bye and thanks again to everyone!
