Regarding the chess game: I'm actually a terrible player!!! Hi UomoMaffin, before responding to your comment, I want to clarify one thing. I wrote the "bulk" of this review a while ago... At the time, I didn’t mind it and thought it was a nice idea to use the metaphor of the plan-machinery/band-gears! :D! However, when it came time to post it, I had to do a bit of "fine-tuning" (basically, I couldn't remember the names of the actors who respectively portray the various characters..) and I took a look at other pages on the web dedicated to this movie. Well, to my great regret, I discovered that the same metaphor had been used by at least 3-4 other reviewers!!!.. everything seems to lead back to an excerpt from a book by Ghezzi (which I haven't read, but I believe it's called something like "The Cinema of Kubrick") where they talk about mechanisms and gears etc etc etc. I was very uncertain whether to post it or not... In any case: this is the result: if someone thinks I copied... well... I have no way to convince them otherwise!! :DDD! So I leave it to everyone to think what they want!!
