By the way: the Friday saga is quite a mess.. I've seen, like, 6-7 of them, and it's (almost) always worse! 2 and 3 leave you in disbelief at how bad they are! Jason X (the one in the future) is a rooobaaa.. at this point, better to watch Freddy Vs Jason (and I've said it all..).

Oh my God, what a drag this review is!! :DDD!! Yesterday afternoon I was stuck at home with pretty much nothing to do, and this idea came to me: I might as well do a review of all the "I" from the horror sagas of the '80s.. how cool would that be?!?:DDD! I wanted to start with Halloween, but Carpenter deserves more than a lazy Sunday afternoon with nothing going on.. ;)! Come on, tell us the classic Black!

Hi Pippo! Thank you so much for your visit and comment!.. finally someone who thinks this review is a bit too wacky!:DDD!.. honestly, I'm still happy with the result: I believe that if I had focused more on acting, plot, direction, etc., I would have ended up diminishing precisely those aspects I love so much about this film.. so grounded criticisms are welcome! ;) During my lunch break, I picked up "Il cinema secondo Hitchy" and I found just the passage that confirms what Bjorky said earlier: it's on page 189, if I have time tonight, I'll bring it up in full!

Hi fusillo!..I remember that review!!.. and indeed I also remember making myself small when I read the comments!:DDD!.. I repeat: I've read practically everything by the good Alessandro.. but I certainly can't say that I liked everything. I found some ideas splendid, almost enlightening, many others, however, dangerously approached the status of "carta da culo". As for the character Baricco, I won't comment: I prefer other characters, other approaches.. and I'll stop here. Hi and thank you very much!

I think I explained myself poorly!:DDD!!.. I was lucky enough to read Mister "I would rather not" back in high school. When, a few years later, I read Ocean Sea, I found in "Bartleboom" a truly successful twist: that final "Boom" I really like a lot!:DDD!.. I have to confess I share some (actually quite a few..) reservations about the curly-haired one's recent works.. and his latest releases only add to them, but I'm really attached to that character!

:DDD!!..with a certain regret, I confess that the origin of my nickname isn't from my own ingenuity. Bartleboom is a character from Oceano Mare by Baricco: he is a professor, a naturalist who travels the world to write an encyclopedia on "where nature ends." Every evening, he writes a love letter and places it in a chest that he hopes to one day give to the woman he will fall in love with. He is a hilarious and somewhat quirky character, and I find it a very amusing twist on the name of Melville's character!

For the rest, I can only endorse your invitation (to those who haven't done so already) to get "Hitchcock: The Definitive Study of the Master of Suspense": it reads like a novel, but it sheds light on some truly delightful aspects of cinema!!!

@odradek: first of all, thank you so much for your visit and your comment! I "met" Truffaut only a few years ago, during a time when my tastes (musical, literary, and cinematic) were changing drastically. I was in search of what you call "a tender, loving sincerity towards cinema," and while watching films like "Les Quatre Cents Coups" or "Les Mistons," it seemed I had finally found it!:DD! Perhaps in a few years, I too will lose this kind of "infatuation" I have for this director... for now, I want to fill my eyes with it, even at the risk of not (wanting to) see his imperfections and weaknesses. Usually, I give 5 stars only to the film that I consider the masterpiece from that particular director: in this case, I made an exception. There are at least 3-4 films in Truffaut's filmography that I judge to be superior to this one. The audience, at the time of its release, also showed that they didn't appreciate it much. Yet I find it to be a beautiful film about unconditional love, disillusionment, and idealization... to describe it fully from a technical standpoint, I would have needed to speak about it objectively, without the enthusiasm and empathy that the film itself (I believe) requires to be appreciated. And I preferred not to do so. That's all...

Damn, Wino just can't seem to make more than three albums with the same band! "Personal issues related to the music business"?.. whatever..
