Slayer Reign In Blood

Here there is no melody, here there are no arpeggios, there are no acoustic passages, there are no catchy choruses to sing in the stadium, there are no MTV-style anthems. There are no lyrics of supposed socio-political critique, there are no lyrics that talk about how great it is to rock, nor the type "poor me poor me." Here there is only Satan and surgery with no anesthesia. It’s all the thrash in its most uncompromising form... in 27 minutes. Qualitatively, the discography of Slayer (at least up to Divine) is light years ahead of that of Metallica and Megadeth.

Review of a stunning banality/uselessness... genius the list of songs in the last paragraph. I give you two stars since you had the courtesy not to include the tracklist, as is happening more and more often. I notice that many continue to confuse charisma with technique: Bostaph probably wouldn't have even dreamed of the AOD break in his sleep, but technically Lombardo of Slayer would smoke it. The band is my all-time favorite... and that’s enough.

@black: it's true.. the character of the mother "knows a bit too much" even for my tastes.. I find the film highly enjoyable even today, just a shame about a few imperfections here and there (what the lovely kosmo says is also very true: the Italian dubbing is too "over the top", like a melodramatic meatball!!). @kosmo: I liked Strange Days, but many of my acquaintances found the ending a bit too "soft-hearted"..

Almost beautiful film... too bad about the ending, which is really too weepy! I remember the first time I saw it, I was really struck by the scene with the disfigured model... very "professional"! ;)!

...but in fact I believe that the film cannot be considered a true adaptation of the novel... also because (again, in my opinion), the book cannot be considered a true "novel": the only "common thread" that gives the work a kind of unity is the figure of Dr. Benway, but it's a thread that is ultimately flimsy, little more than a narrative pretext. I think Cronny wanted to make "his" Naked Lunch, almost as a kind of tribute to Burroughs' visionary style. For this reason, in my view, it's difficult to say that the film is better than the book or vice versa... I repeat: here I feel like I'm the only one who has "suffered through" the novel more than "lived it"... so it could be that I haven't really grasped the meaning of either work. @hugoniot: I just need them to maintain the grinning quality of the parts in the 19th-century village!:DD!

..but really, does everyone consider Burroughs' novel a masterpiece?!.. am I the only one who had to force myself to finish it?! My intention is not to be polemic; I just really want to understand if you managed to get "passionate" about such a piece of writing. The same goes for the film: beautiful, twisted, visionary... but do you really think it's a masterpiece or, even, THE masterpiece of Cronny?!

"Which one I’m not talking about the little job he was doing ;-)"..it’s a masterpiece!!:DDDD!!!
Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu Babel

I stand with Nick: I find it beautiful... some scenes really almost made me cry. My personal Inarritu ranking: 1) Amores Perros 2) Babel 3) 21 Grams.
Robert Aldrich Che Fine Ha Fatto Baby Jane?

..this really slipped my mind.. Very beautiful film, maybe just a bit "slow" in some parts, which is worth watching even just for the performances of the two leading ladies.

..yes yes, look, I really don’t get along with labels and classifications!!:DD! When it comes to US power, I include bands like Riot, Helstar (which, depending on the albums, I’d say lean more towards thrash), Sanctuary, maybe Satan's Host.. Let’s say that the German scene was much more vibrant..
