@purpu: the onanism continues while I feast on the visit and the comments from so many illustrious characters!! :DDD! The new Mammut is still there waiting to be heard: it's just that lately I've been in a hippie phase.. I dug up some records from the '60s and '70s and I'm going through them properly. But I've heard a lot of good things about it, almost as much as about a cousin of mine who used to be a go-go dancer. In short, from what I know: the new Mammut is really awesome!

@Fest: I managed to get (almost) all of them (this one included) for 9 euros in a shop in Milan that, as far as I understand, is quite well-known: it’s called Psycho, and it has a good selection of reprints from the '60s and '70s. If you're interested, they also do shipping…

Regarding House: you’re absolutely right. House almost certainly added value to the band, especially on the technical side, in terms of musical preparation. In the previous albums, there are many moments where you really get the sense that all the cosmic chaos also served as a backdrop to mask Brock's compositional shortcomings.. :DD! From this, the leap in quality (compositional) is clear. I’ve always wondered, though, how the "character" of House – refined, elegant, cultured – fit into the Hawkwind zoo. There’s a photo from that time with the band standing in front of a pile of sandwiches, beer bottles, and a photo of Stacia like a Mayan idol. Brock has a goofy expression, wearing a shirt that's too short, revealing his navel. Lemmy looks like the Puerto Rican star of a photo novel and is visibly drunk. Dettmar looks like a postcard hippie. House, on the other hand, is slightly off to the side, dressed in a light suit with a look that seems to say, "God, please, if someone really has to vomit, let it not be on my shoes!"... In short, I’ve always imagined him as the classic fish out of water!:D!

I start by warmly greeting and thanking everyone for the visit, the votes, and the comments. It had been a while since I wrote such an "enthusiastic" review, and I find it a bit strange seeing it there, monolithic and endless, staring back at me menacingly! :DD I hope you liked it anyway.. @supersoul: the rating – as usual – was a dilemma for me, as I was torn between a 3 and a 4 (this time, a half-point would have really saved me..:DD!) In the end, I reasoned this way: I reserve a 5 for the masterpieces of a band. In the case of HW, I would say Space Ritual and In Search Of Space. I keep a 4 for the "missed masterpieces," the excellent albums that just need a little something to be considered such. Here, I would definitely include Doremi and Warriors At The Edge. When I try to compare Hall and Warriors, it always seems to me that the scales tip slightly towards the latter.. more organic, slightly better accomplished.. So, after much torment, I opted for a 3, hoping someone would give me the chance to clarify that it was actually a 3.5. Thank you for doing that!:DDD!

@jargonking: well, it's not that difficult: because the previous albums have already been reviewed! This review has a purely "self-indulgent" purpose: I wanted to talk about a band that I love immensely, not only for their music but also for the characters who have been part of it: the stories of Calvert, Lemmy, Brock, etc., have always intrigued me greatly and I believe they significantly contribute to the allure of this band. Obviously, if I have to choose my favorite album from their discography, I look elsewhere. As for the Pink Floyd story... well, first of all, because if, as you say, it can be found in all the reviews, we can consider it settled: a bit like the story of endlessly repeated riffs or space themes... and then, because, if you notice, I haven't mentioned any other band: I wasn't interested in making "external" comparisons, but rather in capturing a musical and personal moment in the band's history and comparing this album to the previous ones. And after this hydrochloric acid comment, allow me a: PRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTT T!!!!!!

Sleight Of Hand, on the other hand, has been the soundtrack to one of my worst moments, emotionally speaking. During that time, I listened to it on loop countless times, so much so that, even today, when I hear it (like I am right now), I find myself partly reliving the same feelings...

I, on the other hand, am one of those who appreciate it a lot. Perhaps because it’s with this album that I returned to PJ after a brief absence. Great review!
