..................AH!..........what the hell......... this is strange! Am I really being screwed for 16 bucks?!? But how strange... I was told that in some issue of "Sapore," they gave it a crazy rating (I don't know how ratings are given in that magazine, but I guess it's something like 8 out of 5, 15 out of 10, or something like that...). So for now, it's me, Kemosabe (comment 6), and the editorial team from "Colore" against Psycho, Festwca, El Chupacabra, and OleEinar. Trell for now (and I hope fortunately!:DD) is abstaining. You guys are really disappointing me...

Sure thing, dear. I should preface that I am a Sunday krautrocker and don't have the necessary qualifications to talk about the genre with any authority. However, I do believe there is a kernel of truth in that article. The krautrock sampler is objectively written by someone who's out there like a horse for those bands. I really think that in some passages he ends up finding much more in the reviewed records than what is actually there. It remains a truly entertaining read, but I don't know if it can be considered "The sacred text" that many view it as... now I’m really getting out of here! :DD

Ah! On Trial! I was just talking about them with Trell and Fest: so Psycho, I take the opportunity to ask you this... don't you think Forever is a bit too bland?! I mean: the previous ones had that psych component that I liked (very "subtle", very nuanced...), but it seems to me that in that album it's almost completely lost.. right?? P.S.: Portal by Tucker?? I don't know it! Should I??

poor Jex Thoth... you treat them all badly. :(( Now I'll tell you this and they’ll make fun of me: I bought it O-R-I-G-I-N-A-L-OOO for 16 euros! Terrible packaging... really the ugliest CD in my collection... does her voice really suck that much?? it doesn’t bother me that much...
Ole: go on their MySpace and tell us what you think!!!

Really powerful stuff from Causa Sui, no doubt about it! Really a ton of sauce to dip with!! The other two were nice, but in the end they seemed like the usual soup. I mean: not ugly, for heaven's sake (especially, if I remember correctly, Free Ride), but... Regarding the Summer Session, I'll just say one thing (which I've already mentioned after the first listen): damn! You can really feel just a little bit of Stefan's hand, foot, and ass from CH!! Well, he’s the one putting in the dough, though!

Sorry to intrude: @xyz: basically the gist of the article referred to by Psycho (which I believe I read some time ago elsewhere, though I could be mistaken..) is all in the last line: nowadays, 95% of the magazines that talk about krautrock spout bullshit to their readers for a simple reason: at the time when the phenomenon developed, today's journalists were too young; they didn't experience it themselves and became overwhelmed by the legendary aura that the phenomenon has taken on over time. The author recounts that in the mid-70s he organized concerts in Berlin. The audience went crazy for people like Jerry Lee Lewis and Bob Marlo, but despised the Can. Furthermore, the significance and authority of Cope's KrautrockSampler are greatly limited. The essence of the discussion is this: Cope is a crazy fan of the genre and wrote as a die-hard fan. A lot of journalists and "opinion-makers" read his articles and got swept up in the same enthusiasm... and the result is the mythologization of musical phenomena that, in reality, didn't have the impact that many want to believe. I mostly went from memory: I gave it a quick go, maybe the words aren't the same, but the gist seems to be what I remember. Sorry for the interruption!!:DD bye!

Hi! I'm really glad you liked them! Regarding the issue of derivative music, let me tell you: I’m also part of the "who cares?!" party; I've also passed the pretentious test with flying colors. In short, personally, I don't mind this retro sound at all. However, the big problem is the longevity of these musical proposals. I don't know how to put it... why go crazy over semi-clones of Sir Lord Baltimore, Leaf Houd, and Yesterday's Children when I can listen to the original?!? I'm fine with it anyway because this music is pure bliss for me. But I can understand why some might turn their noses up. If I can, among the Örebro bands you mentioned, I recommend starting with Graveyard: even months later, their debut is really a fantastic album. Another great record, in my opinion, is by Jex Thoth: kind of a Jefferson Airplane (mostly for the vocals) doing fuzzy acid doom. I know their album didn't get much love at Fest, but I found it quite captivating. Still, in that case too: a great initial spark followed by (partial) scaling back. I'd be curious to know your thoughts! :)) As for Coven: Witchcraft Destroys etc etc, for me, it’s a fantastic record, wonderfully intense. Plus, there's the super witch singing, which never hurts...

Now I’ll say it loud and clear: for me, you’re one of the best oku-reviewers the site has ever had. Keep them coming! The movie, in some ways, is part of my childhood: I remember that after watching it, the idea of a killer armed with a powerful drill haunted me for weeks! :DD I miss DePalma's early films: what do you mean by "experimentation"? I'm curious...

Like Ole, but the opposite: I've just arrived at the office and I'm feeling very emotionally fragile...
