Wow, it looks like the Christmas gift list I would have liked to receive! :D I don’t really have much to counter with! :) In the hardbluesfuzz zone, I’ve dug up Orange Sunshine these weeks: I had filed them away as "the usual stuff" but instead I found them particularly delightful, pleasantly "overloaded." In the "post stoner" zone, I listened to the older works of Totimoshi: Mysterioso seemed like a good album to me, but I’ll reserve judgment for a more attentive listen. My good resolutions for 2008 include paying closer attention to Diagonal (a prog-art rock regurgitation, but it felt a bit too much like a stick up its you-know-what...) and, especially, Pontiak: a great album in the heavy-Arboretum style. I take this opportunity to wish everyone a splendid 2009!!

@Psycho: I agree, this record really works in the car! "Time cycles derived from Hindu cosmogony" I think I’ll recycle that at the first opportunity! :DD @Terry: no sleepiness... let’s just say “a hit and that’s it”! :)) @Purpu: mmm... I don’t know what "intrallazzi" your "friend" Tilburghese has, but that doesn’t seem like a great reconstruction to me, for two reasons: 1) there must have been at least some agreement, I’m not saying on the tracks, but at least on the concert's duration, right?! Is it possible they let them play without knowing how long the concert would last?! 2) Three hours of Isis... and in the end was there also a count of the survivors?! I want whoever came up with this idea to handle the organization of my wedding! :D

"The tension of the live show leaves you breathless" would be a "5". Too bad about the rest...

But what about the garlic, do you leave it in or take it out after it turns golden? Because I'm always afraid of leaving it in and then eating it, mistaking it for a piece of broccoli: that’s something that can completely ruin your lunch! If I'm not mistaken, Fest was among the biggest supporters of Blood Ceremony, while Trell was just ridiculous... I've had them on my hard drive for ages, looking at me with hopeful eyes, asking to be listened to: for now, my heart of ice hasn’t melted yet. We’re probably talking about it next year. At the Monster Magnet concert, I bought the CD of Pilgrim Fathers: have you heard them by any chance?! I think they could make you shit worse than a prune cake (which would actually be a prugnaccio..)!! :DD P.S.: minghia! I "talked about you" to Stefan Koglek and you didn’t even pass by!! arrrrggghhh!! ;)))

@Sfascia: speaking of resurrecting... did you know there's a double Live album by Pestilence floating around?!? "Chronicles of the scourge" or something like that. Basically, there should be some live recordings and a sort of demo version of Consuming Impulse! I got the tip some time ago on these pages, if I remember correctly from the always excellent Francescobus, but I haven't been able to listen to it yet.

@dissonance: no, you’re right, "Soporifero" I would also say no to... More than anything "stunning". Honestly, I haven’t been able to listen to it ALL the way through from start to finish yet. Partly because of time constraints (an hour and a half of uninterrupted listening is probably not something I'll be able to afford until my grandchildren retire...), but also (and I believe especially) because you really start to see the lights flickering behind your eyes... I repeat: splendid performance, impressive in impact, compactness, flair, attitude... but this spacewalk risks tiring even the most seasoned traveler! :)) Michoos: No, Earthless are from San Diego, where the guitarist also has a record store. I think Morkobot improve with every release. I've only listened to "Morto" a couple of times, but it seemed to me to be a really great album: a kind of "post" something (stoner? heavy psychedelia? lovecraft medal? who knows!!!). If you’re interested in less ordinary instrumental stoner, try to see if you can get "2" by RotoR: it may not be a miracle worker, but it seems like an interesting listen.

The review, for heaven's sake, didn't have grand ambitions... talking about an Earthless album is – let me be clear, in MY opinion – rather pointless: it’s a bit like trying to describe "Dark Star" by the Grateful Dead... what do you do?!? Either you’re the supreme poet engaged in swimming in the rings of Saturn, and then you manage to truly convey all the trip-inducing sensations that the song inspires in you, or you run the risk of writing the usual spiel (which, by the way, I've already recycled in other reviews!:DDD). Let’s say it was more of a notice: the album really deserves it, the band does too, and the "setting" of Roadburn, well, that’s another story... and I felt I HAD to share with someone the image of Captain Nintendo Ciccio Bombo!! Thank you all so much for stopping by!

Wow, I might end up looking like a fool here! :)) I should clarify that (unfortunately...) I didn’t personally attend Roadburn 2008: this is a review of a live recording recently released by the band. It’s a double album: the first disc is an improvisation (35 minutes), and the second contains two tracks already featured on the previous Rhythms From a Cosmic Sky (47 minutes or so, I can’t remember exactly…). The story of the Isis leaving the stage earlier than expected is part of the "Official Chronicles" of Roadburn 2008, but there are conflicting accounts regarding the reasons behind their action. Rock star theatrics or technical issues?!? Frankly, I couldn't care less: this live recording is absolutely devastating! You can find the whole concert on YouTube in 10-minute segments: later, I’ll throw some links into a playlist for anyone who wants to get a sense of it.
