Avenade It's Whimsical Afterlife

You talk about things I know nothing about. And to my untrained ears, all this florilegium of emo-core-post-mastersystem-sludge, hybridized with new-alchemique-industrial, sounds like a load of nonsense. Perhaps that was exactly the effect you intended to convey and I just missed the irony (I mean, I got the irony, but the other way around, not sure if that’s clear). Anyway, you have a really significant credit with me, thanks to your cool reviews and even cooler recommendations. So well done, regardless.

I happened to put it back in the car last week, and I’ve been blasting it for days. Unfortunately, it’s one of those albums I discovered quite late, when I had already grown tired of metal and was trying to broaden my musical horizons a bit. Like so many albums I listened to during that period, I certainly recognized its beauty and significance, but I never fully absorbed it, mainly because the listens I dedicated to it, however numerous, took place within a rather limited timeframe. It never had the chance to become, or simply didn’t become, one of those "life albums" that you might know since you were a teenager and still listen to while adjusting your tie for your wedding. Listening to it again after such a long time, I was struck once more by the incredible variety, the outrageous amount of ideas and solutions, the songwriting ability, and the almost complete lack of true "sonic boundaries." A masterpiece.

It's proof that, in very rare cases, a strong idea is enough to create a successful product.
The comic is drawn in a rather amateurish way, and the character design isn't exactly a joke either. The main characters are the usual mishmash of colossal misfortunes and hanging-paranoias for the idiots, which have made Japanese narratives unbearable and indigestible for me; all the other characters are either cut out of cardboard or barely sketched.
On closer inspection, it's also poorly scripted: the narrative timing is completely distorted and the list of "things that happen without any sense" seems never-ending. Even this business of aerial battles with spray cans… of course, it serves the purpose of allowing humans to fight giants while keeping the medieval-steampunk setting, but at least it should have been rationalized, subjected to some rules that, as flimsy as they might be, would make the narrative development less random. Instead, it just happens that "every now and then" someone runs out of gas, and if it’s one of the protagonists, they’re in deep trouble, but then another protagonist shows up and saves them; if it’s a secondary character, they become giant tartare.
That said, I admit I've watched all of it and I'm looking forward to the finale because the main subject is cool and the mystery behind the giants and the other thousand nonsense has intrigued me. In short: done poorly, but it gets the job done. I think three balls are fair.

Reintroduced to the car yesterday morning, after at least 10 years of not listening, because I came across it in a book I randomly leafed through in the bathroom. A grandioso album. How many things I had forgotten!

Thanks to this review, I discovered the magazine Zothique. It seems like quite a find. I've added the first issue to my Amazon cart. I'm really curious! 5 balls just for that. Well done.

I'm sorry because you seem like a nice guy, but this page is just a bit useless and cloying... Not that this comment is changing the fate of humanity, huh!? Alright. Bye bye.

One of my childhood books. I loved it deeply. Even after such a long time, I still remember so many passages from it.
