I'm listening to it right now. So far it seems like a great album... "However." However, the best parts strike me as the more introspective ones, while the heavier sections feel too much like Wino's influence... and maybe I expected a more "personal" drumming. I'll revisit it tomorrow after many more listens, hopefully.

Happened to be here by chance, I’m quite sorry for the few comments. I don’t know the artist, but you’ve made me really eager to try it.

I'm listening to it again now: "Black Lung" is the blues as High On Fire sees it! :DD!

Good job because you reminded me that I only listened to it halfway through (and, by the way, it seemed inferior to the first one, but maybe it's just a first listen impression...). I'm off to do a little review.

I'm afraid I saw it seated in a row too close to the screen to fully appreciate the 3D... in short, it didn't really give me that big effect. By the way, precisely because of the 3D issue, the ticket cost €10.00: they had to revive me with popcorn salts. The movie seemed quite nice to me with some rather successful sequences (e.g.: the hilarious gas scene). Definitely better than the second one. However, I believe that the characters and, in general, the plot are showing their strain.

The damn food often comes up as a side story: the chili factory, the chicken slaughterhouse, canned food, the theft of fat. In Capitani Oltraggiosi they eat a lobster and Hap says, "The lobster was disgusting. At one point we began to suspect it was a giant cockroach." :)

I believe you have pinpointed exactly what, in my opinion, is Lansdale's weak point: a certain "intangibility" of the plots. Often the starting ideas are great, not genius by any means, but still effective in piquing the reader's curiosity. What is often lacking, however, is a "development" that lives up to them. I think you are absolutely right: the plot is just a stage, a pretext to move the characters. I don’t know that book, but in many of his others the plot is also - especially - a pretext to talk about a certain kind of America and Texas in particular: a land of cowboys, preachers, echoes of a recent past deeply racist, of abused women and silenced horrors... In short: I hope you enjoyed it!! :))

The review is good and the proposal seems interesting (by the way, I'm really curious to see what Viggo looked like back then...), however, it does reveal a bit too much of the plot. Pekkat...
