Six Organs Of Admittance Luminous Night

If the hostess agrees, I see about loading the Naam senselessly between today and tomorrow. The only problem is finding 5 damn minutes to breathe... This week, I'm doing so many flips that I fear I might find myself with my head up my ass any moment now. As for the Baroness, I think I'll settle for the red one, which already didn't make me rip out the hairs from my perineum. The Alasehir are a branch of Bardo Pond. So far, what I like the most is The Philosophy of Living Fire: three pieces for about 40 minutes, all instrumental, building up with a superb drummer and a sprinkle of noise. I don't know if you would like them: you know I'm a fool for certain listens!! :))

@Psycho: for me both Shrinebuilder and the new Ancestors suck just like they look, or thereabouts. The first one, after the initial excitement, really let me down. I listened to the second one twice: I was already pretty happy that they had toned it down a bit, and then they hit me with a 6-and-a-half-minute piano track and another 4-minute monstrosity of an outro. Rather, Naam should be releasing soon: their EP (Kingdom) wasn't too bad, I'm really curious to hear the album. Last thing: lately I’ve been really into Alasehir… do you like them?!

I agree with Alessio, at least when it comes to what I listen to. Ufomammut, El Thule, MOrkobot (and I think Lento as well, but I'm not sure), for example, have been invited to Roadburn in past years. King Bong released a self-produced album that is a gem and can be downloaded for free from their Myspace. There’s a wonderful live recording of L'Ira del Baccano circulating. Not to mention the ton of bands that have nothing to envy from those in other countries: from Stoner Kebab to Mydriasi, plus all those groups that don’t drive me crazy, but are talked about very highly: Maya Maountains, Oak's Mary, Zippo, Doomraiser. There’s a local joint around here that hosts people from all over Italy: a few months ago I heard two stoner bands from Campania that took a couple of Regata diesel and organized a mini-tour for themselves across the peninsula. In my opinion, Italian rock is more than alive, and (whether we like it or not) the internet, peer-to-peer sharing, and the decline of the need for physical "support" have breathed new life into a certain type of DIY, facilitating music distribution.

ahhh... this album reminds me of the three-handed review with the enlightened Francescobus and Ocram. Good times, no doubt. A real banger.

I didn't want to read it before listening to the album... I was almost afraid of ruining the surprise! This album is a gem. At times it’s almost moving. Beautiful. Just like the review.

True, too much molasses. Yet it's a molasses that, after all, fits... Perhaps because it's the classic book that is read when one is very young, when molasses is digested more easily. This summer I let myself be convinced to read "The Violin of Auschwitz" (which I later discovered to be a big literary phenomenon): by the end I had to reread Misery Must Not Die to avoid a hypoglycemic coma. This in comparison is a diet sweetener. :))
