Evile Enter the Grave

Good review. However, I don't think the "wrong place-wrong time" argument holds up very well. Right around the late '90s and early '00s, thrash was experiencing a full resurgence, thanks in part to the return of many historical names from the scene. In fact, it turned into a bit of a mess (kind of like when power metal was big in the mid-'90s) and everyone started doing nostalgic thrash. And now, with mules, soul seekers, megauploads, and the whole gang, those national barriers that existed 20 years ago are gone. By the way, a couple of years ago I started reviewing some old-school British thrash metal bands: aside from the already mentioned Sabbat, I remember Onslaught, Acid Reign... and then, who knows! :)
The Sword Age of Winters

These, if I remember correctly, are also liked by the Reverend. In fact, to tell the truth, they are liked by almost everyone. I tried to listen to what I believe is the second one (the one with the sword in the stone on the cover or something like that) and I tossed it after the third track... I don't know, I’ll try to give this one a listen too.

I also thought that NewYorkeseeeeeee was intentional. What do I do: take it out or leave it?! I would leave it...
Carnivore Carnivore

I have a very vague memory of the Carnivores: on one hand, some of their images dressed like the motorcycle villains from Ken Shiro, and on the other, a song of theirs where a guy pours himself some wine and vomits. In short: nothing exceptional. But we're talking about so many, too many years ago...

Discovered very late, little by little I am getting hold of their discography... I am missing this one, but I hope to fix that as soon as possible. Well done, well done.
Blind Guardian Battalions of Fear
Voto:
I haven't read the previous comments, but "4" honestly seems a bit exaggerated to me. Battalions is a raw album in many ways, at times weighed down by the excessive length of some tracks and a bit tedious if listened to from start to finish. Furthermore, Kursh doesn't yet scream like a barbarian waiting in line for his pension, which doesn't play in his favor. That said, there is already a hint of that show-off attitude that will come out forcefully in the subsequent albums (also see the quotation of Dvorak in At The Gates Of Moria), and some tracks are really good ("Run For The Night" is a blast to play and even the title track sticks in my mind as quite nice), but given what they will deliver in the following albums (up to Imaginations, of course), I’d say a 2.5 is more than sufficient.

I don't think I've ever listened to them and, frankly, I don't believe they're very much in tune with my current tastes. Excellent review, as usual.
