Pierre Coffin e Kyle Balda Minions

The truth is that in the last 15 years, there have been CGI titles that are real masterpieces, which almost make me stop wishing for the extinction of humanity. For instance, I would mention Up, Wall-E, Inside Out, Toy Story 3, Wreck-It Ralph, the second Shrek, the second How to Train Your Dragon, and maybe The Boxtrolls. Then there have been animated films that made me hope for a last-minute advancement in aerospace technology, allowing us to build a spacecraft to send directors and screenwriters along with a brood of Xenomorphs across space to film the 15th chapter of the Alien saga in a Big Brother version (e.g., Puss in Boots, The Smurfs 2, Turbo). And then there’s an amorphous mass, like mixed and abandoned Play-Doh, of films that are neither masterpieces nor complete failures; you watch them, and yes, they’re quite nice, they bring a smile or two, but they hardly evoke any real emotion. Well, I place the two Despicable Me films (along with, coincidentally, Megamind – which I actually think is even better) in this category: cute, with an extreme graphic style that never hurts, but if you take away the Minion gags, there’s very little left to hold onto. The thing is, they were gags and they remain gags. And if you don’t add at least an N and a BANG to a gag, it’s really tough to make it last an hour and a half...

Curiously enough, if you try to search for "Le Zoccole Misteriose" on YouTube, among the top results you’ll come across "Le Ragazze Italiane" by Santo Niente... Look, sometimes, the synergies.

Dear, I edited it a little because it was hard to look at. The proposal might actually interest me a lot. Maybe next time you could spend more than 15 seconds writing the review, and we’ll become buddies. We might never play "incularlo," but couch tickles are guaranteed!

How strange not to find comments... I don't have time to read it carefully. I'll come back to it.

I listened to Odelay and Mellow Gold when they were released and found them quite genius. Then adolescence hit me, the sweating problems, the nocturnal emissions, and the '80s thrash metal revival. Last year, I devoured "Morning Phase" like a lobster and promised myself to do the musical salmon and eventually retrace his discography. Good thing you reminded me of it.

I had written a pretty long comment about the primordial and murderous black metal of the 80s/90s and how the salvation of the genre necessarily lies in contamination, but I accidentally closed the page and I don't think I'll be able to rewrite it... However, I read the review with great pleasure and I just want to indulge myself by listening to the last track.

So now if I write @blechtrommel this page magically fills up with hair spray and singer-songwriters trapped in a steel lung?!? Let's give it a try...

I liked it too. As you may have gathered from some articles I've sent over the last couple of years, a few of the topics addressed in this film really interest me. The risk was that it could have turned into some pretentious stuff or trivialized into something like a TV Sorrisi e Canzoni article. Instead, it finds a balance: there's a lot of substance, but the viewing experience is always enjoyable, even if at times it stumbles into some excess sweetness that I personally could have done without. There are interesting insights, like the idea of "learning" love, and Phoenix is always fantastic. For me, it’s a good film.
