Pantommind Searching for Eternity

I'm sorry for the lack of comments, but this can happen with review debuts dedicated to not very well-known groups. The review seemed decent to me: there are a few mistakes here and there, but all in all, the reading wasn't unpleasant.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor Asunder, Sweet And Other Distress
Voto:
The review struck me as well-written and very heartfelt, but I must confess I do not share its content. I listened to this album a few times upon its release, but it didn't really impress me. Better yet: the first 3 "movements" seemed basically negligible to me (especially the drone of the third...). Piss Crown are trebled, on the other hand, remains one of my favorite tracks from their discography even months later: an incredibly cool crescendo, epic and pompous, abrasive in its sounds... I like it so much that I often use it for "air violin" in the shower, using my penis (or the penis of whoever’s nearby) as the bow.
Port-Royal Where Are You Now

I listened to them in the past (I believe Dying in Time): they didn't blow me away, but I have to admit they managed to paint (definitely in watercolor) beautiful atmospheres. It's quite disappointing to read about this misstep.
Henry Alex Rubin Disconnect

Well! I saw it a few days ago precisely because the review reminded me that I had it lying in the HD for almost a year. To be honest, it felt a bit like a “small movie,” a less ambitious version of Crash (which, in turn, seemed to me like a rehash of Magnolia with some existentialist/authorial inspiration). The strangest thing is that at least initially it seems to focus on the effects of internet 2.0 on our lives, but, in reality, the "computer" aspect quickly takes a backseat and ends up being little more than a pretext to talk about the usual fathers who don't understand the usually more sensitive teenage children, the usual couple in crisis, and the usual journalist who discovers she has a soul. And then the ending (or rather, the endings), really bad, really rushed, superficial, truly poor in ideas. SPOILER: all these forced reconciliations about half an hour from the end, the journalist's story left practically unresolved, the hospital scene with Bateman saying, "everything I love is in this room," and Jonsi in the background going overboard with the emo... for instance, I would have included at least a really steamy encounter between the milf and the guy from the online porn.

Honestly, I had no desire to listen to it, but reading the review piqued my interest a lot... I'll give it an ear. Well done.
Slayer Repentless

Excerpt from the interview with irishtimes.com with Kerry King:
"Your last album prior to Repentless was World Painted Blood in 2009. Since then Jeff Hanneman died and your drummer Dave Lombardo was fired. You must have felt at some stage that Slayer would never make a new record...
Not me personally. The way I look at it is that if I wasn’t making music up for Slayer, I’d be making music up that sounds just like Slayer with somebody else playing it. It made sense to me to continue doing what I was doing.
For me, it was waiting for Tom (Araya, bass player and singer) to be happy with the situation, and I think it wore on him more than it wore on me. I looked at it more realistically than personally. I looked at it as business. This is my job and I’ve got to continue what I’m doing, so there wasn’t any other option for me.
Jonathan Coe Donna per caso
Voto:
I've read a bit of Coe's work. The bad news (which I have fond memories of) and its follow-up Closed Circle (not living up to the former), The House of Sleep (which starts decently but becomes incredibly dull as it progresses and completely falls apart at the end), and especially The Winshaw Family, which, years later, remains one of the most intriguing narrative constructions I've had the chance to read. I definitely gave up on him with The Rain Before It Falls, which, despite an interesting premise, failed to meet any expectations at all, resolving itself into very little in terms of narrative. I miss this, and I've just discovered that in recent years, he's published two more novels I wasn't aware of... I don't know if I'll catch up on them, who knows... Good review!
Skyclad Prince of the Poverty Line
Voto:
I must confess that I have a very faded (and not entirely positive) memory of this, which makes the 4 stars seem a bit strange to me... The fact remains that I've always been really sorry that Skyclad never "turned the corner," that they never enjoyed the popularity that perhaps less deserving bands have thrived on (the first ones that come to mind are Grave Digger). I myself, as much as I have always recognized their ability to write excellent songs and as much as I believe that Valkyer is one of the best lyricists around, must admit that I've never really gone crazy for them, not even for their most successful albums. I took a look at their Spotify page, and the picture is quite disheartening: they have about ten albums streaming, but with that number of listens, they probably made about what I spent tonight at the pub...

I confess I haven't read the review so I don't spoil the plot for myself. However, I've heard quite a few good things from various sources, even on sites where I usually agree. I'll come back after watching (but also after seeing) it.

For the rece: guys, I understand that the school system has gone to the dogs, that punctuation is distributed in the text according to rigid rules that remind a bit of the Christmas lottery number draws at grandma's house, and that you are used to writing with K's, XE's, TVTTB's, and, more generally, with QLO. And I also understand that rereading at least once what you’ve written before it gets published on a site and remains available for anyone to read for the next 10,000 years is an intellectual and physical effort second only to that required to poop out a risotto ladle stuck horizontally in your rectum. Really, I get all of this and even more. But you can still go fuck yourselves.
