Beyond its purely literary value (which, I repeat, there is much to discuss...), I believe that, for the sake of intellectual honesty, one must recognize the merit of this book in having, if not "founded," at least "reinvented" the canons and the tropes of the fantasy genre and children's literature. In short: there is a "before" and there is an "after" "The Lord of the Rings." This seems to me an undeniable fact to consider, regardless of any evaluations. Furthermore, to this day, in its genre, it remains practically unsurpassed in terms of plot, narrative architecture, strength, and charisma of the characters: anyone who has read something by that hack Terry Brooks, or Gemmel, or Zimmer Bradley... all beneath the table picking up the crumbs of Tolkien, can confirm this. Fifty years later, it remains the work against which every fantasy release is to be measured/compared. And while this may not make it a masterpiece, it at least excludes the possibility of dismissing it as a "colossal mess."

I have seen half of the first season, almost all of the second, and a couple of episodes from the third. "Among the goals of the program is to glorify the singer so that they quickly become an acclaimed pop star" + "The show is great because, unlike 'Amici,' it creates a big happy family American style." As far as I'm concerned, this is already enough to give it a 1.

@Fedee: I will simultaneously be a coach like Clint Eastwood in Million Dollar Baby and a worried little wife mixed in with the audience, like Adriana in Rocky. But at the end of the meeting, I want you to say to the microphones of the journalists some nonsense like: "Because if I can change, and you can change... the whole world can change!!! Bartle... I DeAaaaamooooo!!!" :DD

Anyway, Il_Paolo is right: it's true that shit comes in waves. November has been an excellent month in terms of reviews, both in writing and proposals. In the last few days, however, it's all been a regurgitation of organic material coming from the debaserian sewers... isn't it that, in reality, you're always the same person?!?

Oh my goodness... on the home page, there are two reviews of an album that was released almost 30 years ago, for which, probably, all the adjectives of the main Indo-European languages have already been used. But don’t you feel like talking about music that is a little less "swallowed, chewed, ruminated, digested, and regurgitated"?!?

@Alexander: to tell the truth, I knew that it had been subjected to a dextrophilic interpretation. Once at the gym, I met a neo-Nazi in his 40s. According to him, this book concealed a ton of anti-communist messages or something along those lines. Emblematic, he said, was the fact that "Evil" came from the East. I never dared to ask him how he explained the fact that Tolkien had chosen a race of "halflings" as the "saviors of the world" instead of tall Aryans, but whatever. In any case: I read it when I was much younger. Impressive and monumental, perhaps even unmatched, for all the "world-building" (dynasties, languages, races, etc etc etc). Definitely needs to be scaled down in terms of pure writing and, above all, rhythm. I don’t think I would ever reread it... Anyway, 5 for the career.

As usual, you're desperately seeking attention. And then you even have the nerve to complain because the homepage sucks.

I bought it original the other night at the Melvins concert and I’ve kept it in my car for these two days: I didn't remember it being this beautiful... Truly Bonebroker!

Well... Frankly, I don't remember coming across particularly enlightening considerations. Rather, there's a persistent search for mental convolutions about the meaning of life by two characters so psychotic that they become irritating at times. So pathetic that they wonder if the author's intent was nothing more than to elicit the reader's "pity." Moreover, I found some things quite "moccan" — for instance, the figure of the "bulla" (who really seemed to have popped out of our dear Federico's baseball cap). Yes, maybe you're right when you say that the author's age should be taken into account... but in my opinion, only as "hope for the future," and not as a parameter for evaluating the quality or depth of the book.
