The thing that shocked/perplexed/made me laugh the most is the level of schizophrenia of the characters. It's the kind of stuff where everyone (and I mean everyone, everyone, everyone... even the kid) in a scene that might last two minutes can: kiss each other passionately, call each other whore/jerk, cry, hug, say "I love you," and then tell each other to fuck off for good, "I never want to see you again or my penis might fall off, bounce on the ground, and get stuck up my ass." All of this is delivered in a tone that ranges from infrasonic to gritted teeth (perceptible only by bats) to a barbaric-hysterical scream. Not to mention, in the next scene, it all starts over again. As someone once said: an epoch-making film.

What did you say?? Did you say slagg?!? mmm.... but the cover isn’t very slagg, with all that white... If they wanted to do things right, they should have photographed the agonizing civet in a puddle of guano and mud. In this regard, one of the most slagg things ever is the artwork of "Viva Emptyness" by Katatonia, with the fallen angel in the trash bin!

:DDD At the bottom of this page I have "Google Ads": "Depression - Treatment for depression - Death - Grief depression." Holy Mary of the crowned one, how the hell is this so messed up?!?!?!? :DD

In the QOTSA debate, I wash my hands with bleach and dry them with chamois balls! I never really cared much for QOTSA, in fact, I can say I’ve soundly ignored their bolas. In any case: for me, they have very little stoner vibe (of course, we're only talking about the early stuff; on the more recent ones, I think we all agree). But really, they’re the classic band I listened to more for the curriculum than for real interest: so, on this occasion, just like in the debate "Dark Side Of The Moon: masterpiece or living room psychedelia?", it seems my opinion doesn’t count for shit! ;)

Damn, 100 comments... It hasn't happened since the debate: "Death Magnetic: stuff for fascists and pseudo metalheads?"!

@Tarpit: naaaaaaa... stoner kebab seems too stoner all around for your tastes (it sounds like I'm joking, but I’m not trying to be. Listen and then let me know! :))). Anyway, I don't think there are any links, I got them from someone’s blue bird. Speaking of King Bong, I watched the EHG concert with the guitarist: he told me they would be going into the studio the very next day (that is, last Wednesday) to record some new tracks. He hinted that it should be more cohesive material, more structured, less free-jammy. And give a listen to the Mydriasi porco dinci: their Corridors is a little psycho doom gem in a seventies style that puts a lot of more well-known people to shame! Varesott doom rulez! B-)

"It wouldn't be very slagg to have a debate like this..." I completely disagree!!! It may not reach the heights of "Punk is a very limited genre, how does it compare to progressive?" or "Kurt Cobain: true artist or clever con artist?", or even "Freddy Mercury and Queen: stars in the rock firmament or music for posers and pseudo-metalheads?", but "QOTSA: stoner yes? stoner no? stoner who gives a fuck?" I find it quite definitely slagg! \m/|||

@Fiero: It's worth mentioning that Morkobot have a much more "experimental" approach compared to Ufi. Both pursue a musical discourse closely linked to a search for "sounds," but their approaches and results are different. Ufi start with standard instrumentation (guitar, bass, and drums) and then weight it down to the point of exaggeration, adopting a compositional style rooted in riffs and their hypnotic repetition (so, if you will, stuff that's already been heard). Morkobot deconstruct much more: first of all, there are only two basses, drums, and two pedalboards as big as my garage, and they care less and less about riffs over time, kicking the song structure to the curb, etc., etc. For this reason, I think comparisons can be a bit perilous, especially if, as I've come to understand, you're more interested in things that are a bit more "oblique." Let me know if you like the Bushman!! :)

@Fiero: but Idolum, in the end, was all about the sounds. And when it comes to sounds, I believe it really had something to say. Of course, in purely compositional terms, he has inevitably declined over time and with the listens, but in terms of sound, it remains a great work. As for Eve, I’ll tell you: what you say is absolutely true. A somewhat overused formula and sounds (at least for what I could hear) quite "average." Yet from the first listens, it struck me as an album not lacking in charm. Lately, it happens less and less often that I reach the end of an album and feel like listening to it again right away, but that happened with Eve. So, for now (and barring the test of time), I’d say it deserves a 4/5! P.S.: if you want to hear something good and strange, check out Bushman's Revenge's You Lost Me At Hello: stonerdoom with a jazzcore twist! ;)

@Ugly: don’t get me started... to see the EW last time I had to travel like 440 and something Km!!! By the way, holy hell, every year when the stoned hand of doom comes around I have some crazy issues. Bit by bit, that festival is becoming a super thick deal. I don’t want to make excessive comparisons, but if you look at the bands that have played in the last 2-3 editions, it turns out it doesn’t have much to envy about Roadburn (i.e.: The Heads, Witchcraft, Orange Goblin, Colour Haze, Electric Wizard, etc. etc.). By the way, this year’s lineup is basically made up of my absolute favorite bands. There are even Stoner Kebab and Mydriasi!!!
