@jdv: be careful that we are talking about a book by an author who is not exactly famous for his comforting endings. On the contrary, he makes pessimism and inevitable fate the foundation of his storytelling. For this reason, in my opinion, the ending somewhat betrays the very idea of the book. Among other things, precisely because of its pronounced pessimism, the film faced numerous delays in production and was practically boycotted by American distributors who enacted a sort of "preventive self-censorship," deeming it unsuitable for the general audience. I believe that if it really did make it to some multiplex, it was probably during maintenance shutdown days... :)

Me too. I would have made it end worse. Much worse. So much worse that it couldn’t possibly be worse.

I've been listening to it on loop for days: it reconciles me with some "heavy" music that hasn't excited me in a long time. In reality, there's very little black in it, aside from the vocals (which, strangely, don't bother me at all and, in fact, I find absolutely fitting...) If I had to categorize it at all costs, it seems much more akin to post metal. As far as I can tell, they have gradually refined their sound, progressively moving away from black tout court: at this point, I'm really curious to hear the next album. Thank you so much for introducing me to them.

The last fantasy stuff I read was the mess of Eragon. After finishing it, my nerves were so frayed that I did a foot bath in dragon blood and wore the amulet of Fedonia, swearing on the grave of the ancient Vagonar that I would never read anything of that kind again. In reality, every now and then I get the temptation to read something again... I’ve read some very good reviews about Tad Williams (who I believe is more in the cyberpunk realm) and another author whose name I just can’t remember, both untranslated. Too bad that in the meantime my English has shrunk to little more than "the car is on the table." :)

Very nice page: I read it with pleasure even though I don't care much for the genre. Well done!

I had read some rave reviews all over the internet. So I got it and gave it a try. As far as I can remember, the feeling was more or less like Frankie... maybe it's just too far from my usual listening. Good review.

Apart from everything, great review Gustavino. It seems like a nice proposal.

A truck driver is traveling at night. He sees a nun hitchhiking on the road and decides to stop. He lets her in and starts singing his usual jingle: I am Charon and I drive my bison... He goes on for quite a while until he places his hand on the nun's thigh. She: no, this is a sacred place! He tries again and she repeats: no, this is a sacred place! I must preserve my virginity! However, if you really want, we can do it from behind. He: okay, better than nothing! When they finish, he lets her out and says: eh... remember that I am Charon and I drive my bison! And she: you, on the other hand, remember that I am Renato and I go around in disguise!

The hazelnut/blue Ritmo was the ugliest car on the road throughout the mid-'80s. By comparison, the Alfa Sud was a gentleman's car.

Just for having produced guitars in that hideous color, Ibanez and Jackson deserve to go bankrupt tomorrow. They and the company that made Sandy Marton's portable keyboards: immagine:jem.jpg?w=490&h=367
