Dear Terry, believe me: if you’re innovative, Gigi Marzullo is a handsome man. L'Odio della notte has a 6-meter banner reading "Joy Division" on every single note. Even in the choice of bands to cover, you haven't exactly been original. You could have pushed yourselves a bit more. Moreover, the same Dark Lord stuffed the review with references to well-known groups (even though I really don't understand where he heard the Green Day). Come on guys, let’s not kid ourselves. My good luck wish was sincere: you have a decent drummer and the singer, when he doesn't overdo it, isn’t half bad. You just need to clarify your ideas about "what" you really want to play and not "how" you want to play it.

I received an email with, attached, a JPG image: there’s a pink puppy with a cheeky face holding a gun and saying, "This is a love robbery... give me a lot of kisses right now." The person who sent it to me is over 10 years old. Jesus... we deserve extinction.

In fact, between Burning Off (on which it seems we all agree) and this there are only Doomsdayer (which I didn't find bad at all), Take Refuge in Clean Living, and the fourth Black Tar (which was an EP and even there it seems that we generally agree it’s not something essential). I can’t say anything about chapters IV and V, since usually long-winded rants tire me out.

I don't know the album, but I enjoyed reading you. Perhaps we can still redeem ourselves. Perhaps humanity can still be saved. I care about you, Starbly.

Let's do this, let's pretend that throughout your debaserian life you've done something else besides reviewing the promos of this band, and let's pretend you don't know the members of this band too well. Anyway: I took a listen to your Myspace, and I got the impression that at least 70% of the genres you listed are too many. To be brutally honest, the feeling is a bit of a mess: the singer in the raucous tracks reminds me of Manuel Agnelli, the bassist plays dark-new wave, the guitarist and the drummer (who I think is the best of the bunch) play heavy metal, and the backing vocalist seems unnecessary to me. By the way: damn, rather do a promo with just 4 tracks, but having so many covers seems excessive... Pay more attention to the recording: okay, I listened to you through the computer speakers at the office, but the guitar is too saturated and the vocals come out too muddy. Good luck.

@Unkle: I think that with this album they wanted to evolve their proposal a bit, moving away from folk-ethnic atmospheres and focusing more on "chamber" sounds. Less psychedelic and more "soundtrack"-like. While it's undeniable that there are sounds and solutions that recur, it seems to me that there is more substance compared to the immediate preceding releases, more effectiveness: more "real" atmosphere and less insubstantiality for its own sake, if you know what I mean. Or maybe it's just that it's been too long since I had a joint... :))

By the way, in Daughters I hear something of the '80s soundtracks, with mega synthesizers, like Carpenter! :)) @Seagull: as far as I'm concerned, I highly recommend Burning Off Impurities and Black Tar Prophecies Vol II. To be honest, I don't think they've made any truly bad albums. Even Doomsday Holyday is a good album and probably their "heaviest" and meanest. I might suggest avoiding Black Tar Vol IV, which seemed to me a bit too much smoke and not enough substance.

How nice that you reviewed it. You were the one who made me discover them, and there probably wasn't a better person to talk about it. Personally, I don't really see the connection with V, but like you, in the past few days, while thinking about a possible review, I was reflecting precisely on the cinematic quality of the tracks. It's a rainy album (even though I believe I've been influenced by the cover): as if it had transitioned from a western to a thriller, from the desert to the metropolis. Right now, during these days of endless rain, I'm listening to Daughters of Bilitis on loop, so essential, so minimal. Beautiful.

Thorough and precise examination. Perhaps a bit too long, but remembering some of my lengthy writings on the subject, I suppose I can't say much. :) Well done.

Among other things, the story that Alexuccio bello is not "sensibly endowed" sounds more like a hoax than a buffalo farm. You just need to know how to handle it. And believe me, Alex knows how to handle it... ;)
