Well, look, when the book came out I was in my first year of high school, and I remember several class meetings and assemblies because we wanted to read it instead of The Betrothed (a battle won!). Then the movie came out, and I remember finding it absolutely bland... the only highlight was David Bowie’s cameo. In Trainspotting, I remember the dialogue between the two junkies where one says something like "since Lou Reed stopped using, he doesn't have that extra something anymore..." or something like that. And I do recall agreeing with that.

You can take everything by Tom Waits without hesitation. The only one I have a hard time listening to is "The Black Rider," but I can't tell you why. It's beautiful to follow the evolution of Waits' voice... If you like Sparklehorse, you surely noticed his (Waits') unmistakable presence in "It's A Wonderful Life."

How much I love your reviews! I would buy the record just to be disappointed like you. Cross it off, come on, even if I'm sure I won't find it in Sardinia...

What a beautiful album, you know I just listened to it again this afternoon (well, it's not weird, I listen to it quite often).

Oh cliff, send me a private message so we can agree on my beheading... Instead of thanking me for correcting a bunch of embarrassing mistakes...

I've always been a fan of Bowie, but this CD doesn't convince me at the moment. It bores me. I've listened to it a couple of times, but I just don't feel like putting it on again. I don't know. Given that it's Bowie, and considering Iko's enthusiasm, I'll give it a few more listens; after that, the CD might become my first crossing...

So, in Bergen the weather is quite capricious; sometimes, despite the mountains, the wind is present but not constant. It hardly ever gets very cold (rarely below zero, and if it does, it doesn’t last long), and if it snows, it soon rains afterward. Rain, indeed, is a practically constant element of the landscape—300 days a year, the Bergenser say. You find the cold in Norway inland, not on the coast.
