Steve Vai Alien Love Secret

I really like Tilt because it's technically unreachable and beautifully creative. It has a bit of the rhythmic fragmentation of bebop. Paul Gilbert is a great axeman; I've listened to him quite a bit, he and Sheehan do some amazing stuff. But I prefer things that are more "refined" stylistically (and that's where Vai excels): that is, a sound and some licks that are more personal and less methodical. I have the DVD of the first G3, the one with Vai, Satch, and Eric Johnson, but I don't know the second one. However, Petrucci is monstrous in progressive, so I definitely think it's worth a listen (and a watch). Do you know if there's a CD or DVD available? I'll take your advice and try to get Liquid Tension; I read the review in Guitar Club a while back, and it intrigued me quite a bit. If you want us to create a collaboration with material exchange, write to me at Drunkboy@piccoloristoro.com, maybe we can swap something.

Sorry for the intrusion, but Jackie Brown deserves respect: beautiful screenplay and great actors. The usual majestic S. Jackson, accompanied by an "unusual" hapless De Niro and the beautiful yet superficial Bridget Fonda create a great mix on the villain's side. And on the good side, the duo Grier & Forster fits perfectly into the shades of the screenplay. And what about the neurotic cop played by M. Keaton? Perhaps he didn't have the audience of other pseudo-police films, but don't tell me you seriously think this is a bad movie! If only there were more bad movies like this...

I don't know Jan Garbarek very well; in fact, I don't think I've ever listened to him. All I know is that he's a "clone" of Coltrane, who delves into Free and Modal jazz, but I've never had the pleasure of hearing him. They say he was truly Coltrane's heir. It's worth mentioning that he learned to play as a self-taught musician...

No, no, no, thank you Franz but I don't need to download it, I already have Mind's Eye with McAlpine on keys. Not bad Vinnie: technically indisputable but I find him a step below Vai both in compositional fantasy and technical innovations. Greg Howe, with his jazz background, is also superior in my opinion. Kotzen and Morse are more "neutral" but still a step above Vinnie Moore. What do you think of the album "tilt" with Kotzen and Howe? It breaks my heart, you can't tell them apart and everything is so perfectly harmonious that it makes me want to cry. If you don't know it, get it. I also recommend "Electric Joy" by Kotzen, the entire discography of Vai (who for me remains the number one of the number ones), in particular, I’m thrilled by Flex-able and Passion & Warfare. Additionally, some works by Satriani are not bad (I have the 90th anniversary signature of Joe as my guitar), including "Crystal Planet," "The Extremist" (a masterpiece), and "Surfing with the Alien." I don't know if you know Milan Polak and George Lynch, I recommend them. Not to forget the great Jennifer Batten (above, below and behind) and the legendary Mike Stern. There’s plenty to enjoy!!!

Do you know the Goblin? Really? I studied Hard&Heavy guitar improvisation based on the works of Giacomo Castellano (their guitar hero), who teaches at Lizard in Fiesole (FI), through a protégé of Castellano, my technique mentor, Dario Osella.

hummm... 15 pounds? It smells a bit fishy... At MediaWorld it costs 33 euros, I knew I would spend a little more at my shop (in fact, 2 euros more). Are you sure you’re not confusing it with the CD?

Okay, so I bought a faulty package... anyway, it’s not that it really matters, since in the end, you are the editors. You have my understanding for whatever your final choice may be. I say that if it’s written in lowercase on the box, there must be a reason for it... or not?
