I’m glad that someone still reads these few lines of mine, but it needs to be remembered that when we talk about the debut of Dire Straits, we do so with much more respect now than when the Knopfler brothers’ band first hit the market. Nine tracks that showcase a band of "high class" newcomers.

Congratulations Bartho, great review that mirrors the way you write by listening and conveying your emotions in a pure manner. The album is obviously a must.

Perfectly agree, De...Marga, and I beg your pardon for the unforgivable oversight while thanking you for the generous assessment.

A great preface, and quite honestly, I wouldn't have given it more than 4 stars either, considering it still an excellent piece of work.

I find comfort in the appreciation for an album that may be older than many of those present here, but as for saying what has been good since the birth of rock 'n' roll to today, it seems right to remember it, even if more comfortably from such a distance in time.
I would like to point out that The Who, while greatly appreciated and personally I would place them (along with Uriah Heep) alongside Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Black Sabbath, have managed to hit the mark by riding the wave of musical novelty of which they have been honest champions.
After the decent "Endless Wire"....the final chapter...perhaps.

This is one of those times when I too would have given 1/2 star in the evaluation (as suggested by the good Klagenfurt85, whom I thank along with others for appreciating what I wrote about "OV"). The album is indeed pleasing but has little to do with what the remaining Doors with Jim Morrison produced in previous albums. It is a record meant to entertain the listener for around forty minutes, but not to leave them in awe.
It’s not often that one gathers so much interest writing about a "minor work," a fact I find extremely important since many of you, having done the same in the past, have led me to (re)listen to and analyze, from a different perspective, albums that I would have otherwise permanently relegated to my "less listened" shelf.

I envy your ability to summarize. Anyway, great album!

To remind us that this man is not just "Eyes Without A Face," this work confirms it.

Beautiful words, Pier Paolo, for an album that can garner appreciation even among those who are not fans of the genre.
