Sting If On A Winters Night
Voto:
@punitore: I'm sorry, I missed it, I’ll go read it and I delight in the common sentiment. @gustavino: generational judgment, forgive me. Sting, great composer of the song form, passed away after the underrated (and for me, beautiful) Soul Cages... Then we had a magnificent showcase of Sting the performer in the Police live 2007... in between, unfortunately, is high-quality fluff, like a scholastically perfect dish, but without soul...

De Palma...genius...I hadn’t thought of it, but in that scene, there’s more than a hint of Scarface...

@giola: thank you, anyway, even if I didn't understand if "arrogance & humility" referred to me... I believe and hope not, since my survival technique (on DeB as elsewhere... tried and tested: I've been here for five thousand years...) is always to be kind to everyone and never engage in fruitless controversies (the arrogance is from those who, first, label others' opinions as "cabbages for afternoon tea," if not worse...)... for example, I would like to ask that on my pages, at least on mine, people refrain from insulting each other and limit themselves to debating. I know: the web is rightly democratic... so I can only ask you to acknowledge my request and do as you wish... Inspirations, dear Giola...: that of Tarantino, as you mentioned, is evident (I believe it can be defined as a very deliberate quotation), from Fellini I see what you said, from Moretti I see the "autism" of certain dialogues and characters, the grotesque irony, the pacing... I don’t know why, but several times I thought of "Palombella Rossa"... but I don’t rule out that these could simply be my feelings. Kisses (Ugualepertutti.com)

@aries: thank you. @supersoul: you don’t want to play the know-it-all and then compare the idiot who throws out clichés behind me, to you with Woody showing up with the author under his arm? Congratulations on your modesty. I probably have to remind you that every author denies or remains silent about their true inspirations, and displays the obvious ones (if you want, I can give you a few hundred examples...). I never said that Petri (who was a great filmmaker) is superficial; I said it’s superficial - let’s say obvious - that someone making "committed" cinema in Italy claims to be "coming from" Petri... (who, by the way, is not the inventor of close-ups). In Sorrentino’s DNA and training, there are surely those, or even those I mentioned, and in my opinion, it’s quite clear. Opinions. Anyway, ultimately, it’s better to deal with fools through a nice quote than with a direct insult… at least in this you’ve shown a bit of style. And, don’t worry, I concern myself with things far more serious than you, me, and us from DeB... here, as in other similar sites, if I’m going to make an effort, it’s…

@supersoul: "Three reviews of this movie and none that I liked... this one then quotes Fellini, Tarantino, Moretti, who fit in like cabbage at a picnic".... okay, professor, I motivated my review because I see all three of them referenced, and if you want, I can write you a couple more pages on why I see those three and one on why I don’t see even a bit of Petri, unless from a perspective, forgive me, absolutely superficial. But maybe we should try another way: since none of the three you read were to your liking, why don’t you write your own, and then we can comment there, after you’ve provided motivations along with your little judgment (if you come up with an insult, of course, you’re a coward: explain, my friend, explain). Yes... I must say that the Punisher is wrong this time....: that he had to do it without a hunchback, without a nasal voice...? There’s one thing about the undeniable, objective elements of aesthetics... and another about capturing so well the diabolicalness and autism of a very complex and surreal character. Kisses.

@gustavino: and the "someone" is wrong... here we treasure the school (which is all there) and even take a small step forward... Trust me, take a look and dam da trà (translated: take my advice)

@alia76: FullG is my stage name in the -let's exaggerate- literary field (look for Damster, my publisher, and you'll find... another one comes out in February... all about musicians....). There’s a genesis to the pseudonym that I can only share privately...(I'm embarrassed) Kisses

I take advantage of Pannzzone's question to explain how I operate: apart from those I consider great classics, especially in jazz and singer-songwriters, which I love to have in original format, for the rest I download first, and if I like it, I buy it (preferably on vinyl, but in my small provincial town that's not always possible...). I downloaded Cristiano, I liked it, I saw it at 19.90, with a nice package, booklet, and included DVD of the tour. It frankly seemed a fair price to me. Kisses and best wishes to you and all of you.
