Lucio Dalla e Francesco De Gregori Work in Progress @ Teatro Arcimboldi (MI) 06.05.2010

@tigre: thanks for the caliber! @teenagelobotomy: well... let’s say that I always have a soft spot for classic singer-songwriters... I mean, I've written it many times before, but I believe that these two old men, along with others named Vecchioni, Guccini, Tenco, De André, Battiato, Fossati, and Conte, have gifted us the best pages, both literary and musical, of Italy in the second half of the twentieth century... and so I always subject their new projects to, let’s say, a very severe, yet definitely affectionate, scrutiny, typical of someone who feels, I believe rightfully, always in debt. Then, my belief that the worst fart of De Gregori is far superior to the best song of Jovanotti... well... that’s just my opinion, which I obviously consider correct, but I also admit to the fiercest dissent regarding it. @kosmo: I had only acknowledged the compliment, but I must contradict you on the premise...: De Gregori, today, is in much better form than Dalla, both compositionally and vocally, there’s no doubt... if you had heard the concert, you would have realized it within a minute. Well, guys...: thank you! Almost all of you appreciated the writing, even those who don't agree with it or who "don't believe a word of what I say" (really, I'm not joking!). Two of you hit the nail on the head...: it surprised me too. The last times at Arcimboldi, I got ripped off (especially by Gilmour)... this time...: 35 euros, and it wasn't even the last gallery, but the second to last. I’d say that’s very honest, for a concert that, I guarantee you, was a splendid and completely non-retorical or pathetic manifestation of a part of our best songwriting... (I mean, these two guys are over 60, Dalla, by the way, for a while now... and I don't know how much longer this can still happen...) Kisses (ugualepertutti.com)

thank you to everyone, the beautiful and the ugly, the bad and the good (but it’s clear that this is a particularly heartfelt thank you to all those who have appreciated the page, even while disapproving of it...). Kisses (ugualepertutti.com)

a record that I always and forever listen to with absolute joy... I reaffirm word for word everything I've written, and I add that, with age (mine, not Yours), I consider it one of the 10 records to take to a deserted island... Kisses (ugualepertutti.com)

@polkatulk88: I don't understand that "however"... The fact that this album has less soul would be a flaw...? It could be an interesting ground for discussion... In fact, although BB is the King of Blues, it is known that in him the components greatly transcend "mere" blues... kisses (ugualepertutti.com)

Thank you, guys, but I believe you haven't read the last lines of my review... I truly think it's an unofficial album, although the recording is perfect... so Sting wouldn't have any blame in this operation... (but if you have any insights, I'm waiting for updates)
Edmondo Berselli Adulti con riserva

@kosmogabri: your question reveals an excess of seriousness. In reality, what Berselli says corresponds to the truth, in my opinion: the cultural "revolution," profound and elevated, of the 60s originated well before 1968 (think of music, cinema, literature), while '68, especially here, gave an already existing phenomenon a veneer of excessive, indeed, angry and belligerent seriousness, perhaps not entirely useful. But also keep in mind that it’s all filtered through that brilliant, playful, and ultimately beautiful environment that was and is Emilia... and that the discussion is limited to the sixties, not earlier (on the previous period, your question would be absolutely justified). Do you agree (or almost)? Kisses

Guys, I appreciate the comments, as always... but have you thought about reading it? Vortex: from how you talk about it (and you're not entirely wrong, but in general...) it's clear that you haven't read it, and equally clear that with the review I gave you, I might have given you a -I fear- wrong idea. Trust me, it's written like a god, which is the first task a book must fulfill... then we can talk about merits calmly... Kisses

@alexx...: look, I still listen to this album and, in a way, I appreciate it...let's say that, donning the undeserved robes of a little professor, I would say that the young man, who has a lot of talent, can give more...
