Untitled Document ISIDE, if you look here you will see a lot of fluff, but also Marley, Battisti, the Pink Floyd, Wonder, Graziani, McCartney, Berté’s "in alto mare" (a masterpiece), Queen, Jannacci, and many others...: but do you really think that the mass quality, the average, was the same... because, my friend, if so, I would really like to understand the reasoning behind it (and I'm not joking). Kisses

Thank you all, as always, for the comments, even the ones I disagree with... a word for Iside: your reconstruction is historically inaccurate: take a look at any ranking from the '70s and early '80s... sure: there was pop, there was fluff, but how much quality was there, every week? Mass quality: incredibly high. Today, who would write, who would produce, and (unfortunately) who would buy a record like "creuza de mà"? Kisses

collective response: bartleboom has hit the nail on the head (he reads me, has more or less understood me and I thank him anyway), the problem is always and only mass quality. In the niche, everyone swims as they like...: I can go into raptures over a record by Anouar Brahem, and another person over Moltheni (whom I personally find unbearable, forgive me).
But the point is another: the "song form" has managed to be both high art and at the same time popular (think, for example, of “Leva Calcistica” by De Gregori, sung on a stage at folkstudio and under any shower)... Is this era completely over...? Because, if so, let’s realize that the greatest culture Italy produced in the second half of the twentieth century is gone, along with the great and forgotten cinema of Fellini, Monicelli & Co. And I don’t think that’s nice.
PS: regarding the blowjobs and Belen. Even here the point is that: is it better to get a blowjob from that impressive statuette Belen (in any case a period of reality) or to indulge in a sumptuous fantasy thinking of Cardinale or Muti in their golden years? Come on, guys: let’s give space to fantasy, because there isn’t much of it left around...
Kisses to everyone

@iside: apart from the fact that I don't think you know what I was listening to or not listening to back then, my point is about mass quality... the world has always been full of niche quality, but unfortunately, it doesn't contribute to the cultural level of a nation... (and then Cattaneo, in my opinion, has always been pathetic, and the Skiantos are a completely different discourse; it would be like comparing Elio and Capossela, or tortelli and a sofa... etc... etc...). Kisses

I - precisely for the principle of de gustibus - wouldn't delve into the standards of beauty and ugliness, but rather whether something is historically important or not... what I see in the kids (I'm old; to me, someone born in '92 is still a kid...) is a certain difficulty in historical analysis...: we were quite a bit later than the Beatles and even more so than Buscaglione, and their sounds or their lyrics might seem dated and "stupid" to us... but that’s precisely where historical analysis lies, in knowing—or not knowing—how to immerse oneself in the spirit of the time...: they are often a generation of "I-centric" individuals, so it's hard for them to have a calm and objective perspective on an era that is not theirs (often, unfortunately, they couldn't care less)... kisses

@aries: alright. @hardrock92: the brilliance of the early albums, in my opinion, needs to be contextualized (like Berlusconi's blasphemy... just kidding)... I mean, you have to imagine the musical landscape in which Vasco "blossomed," strictly divided in two: the usual fucking melody (which would then dramatically regain ground to the detriment of everything and everyone...) on one side and the great singer-songwriters on the other, still in top form back then. Vasco's language, whether you like it or not, was new at that time. Of course, it's natural and fair that listening to his songs today might make you cringe... but I guarantee you, the pointless silly goliardicness of "Susanna è una bambina tutta colorata," nobody had that back then, and it seemed like it was coming from Mars...
