You're right, now that I think about it "the old school" is something else. Jovanotti just made it commercial.

ah, these SSS are not just reggae, but also hip-hop and jazz (afroraggatarantajazz), for those who don’t know them yet and would like to listen to them, especially if they lean more towards rap than reggae.

Nashira, now that I think about it, maybe you’re not entirely wrong. They were good back in the good old days... when the Onda Rossa Posse was still around, and the SSS were just taking their first steps, and you wouldn't find them written on the pillars of the Salerno Reggio Calabria; now they’re a bit boring. As for southern hip-hop, definitely better off with Stokka and Madbuddy, the 13 bastards, and many other less-known groups and rappers. Unfortunately, that's how rap is; it has its limits, and after ten years, you start to fade away. But after all, there are some rappers (and it’s no coincidence they are considered the best) who can still amaze you after ten years of productions, the good old veterans who never bore you, but that’s not the case with the Sud Sound System... damn Nashi, you've opened my eyes (and ears).

Jovanotti is a failure and as Fabri Fibra says, he's a retired rapper by now, but during the aforementioned period, he had great merit in popularizing rap in Italy. Of course, he's not a great nanny, but probably many of the old rap followers, who were also important, wouldn't have been if they hadn't listened to Jova as infants.

After all, God created myths so that small men could bring them down and enjoy doing so...
I enjoy it.
