I've been to the Circolo degli artisti many times; in fact, it's really a dark hole. But what can you do? Better than nothing. I remember the guys who work there fondly; they were good people trying to do - well - the hardest job in the world, which is to bring quality bands to perform in Rome (or in Naples, where, however, they raised the white flag a long time ago). This doesn't change the fact that it's also a cultural issue: the South still has some catching up to do in this regard; I don't know how many of you were at the concert, but I doubt the Circolo was overflowing. Anyway, Rome is improving, thank God! For us music addicts, it's much, much better than it was a few years ago (thanks primarily to Veltroni).

That said, let's get to the facts. "Greatest palace music" doesn't hold a candle to the works under the name "Bonnie Prince Billy," which are, indeed, unattainable. No one else could. It's an album that I struggle to listen to, perhaps because I'm taken by youthful fury and this pitiful state of mind that leads me toward more roaring guitars, making me believe I'm fighting. I’ve given it a taste, and it sits there gathering dust. Anyway, that little disc will never leave the vicinity of the player because – I’m sure of it – when I return to bouncing around, I’ll still feel the need to listen to this stuff strangely labeled "americana" (then St. Thomas – who is Norwegian – what "americana" is that?!) to remind myself of when I used to fight. Hal, knowing that you like Will is the best thing you could have told me…! A hug...

My comment - alas - will be long. For many reasons that - excuse me - I keep to myself. Just know that Will is one of my favorite artists, that the genre "americana" or whatever the hell you want to call it (what nonsense genres are) is one of my favorite genres (probably the first). Just know that Nashville is paradise for me, that "Master and Everyone" was beautiful, and that the previous one was too beautiful to believe.

I share with Kosmina. An incredibly underrated band in Italy, excessively prolific (you quickly lose count of their published works). Great character, great band.
