I’ll be honest, I don’t love posthumous works; they smell burnt to me. What can I say, I’m a prejudiced jerk. I was apprehensive about this album anyway: first, because if I liked it I would regret it even more; second, because if I didn’t like it, it would make me even angrier about such ventures. The truth, as always, surfaced in the middle. An honest album, nothing more, confirming a talent still far from fully exploding, but one that would have exploded. I like to imagine that Smith hadn't yet completed his recording work because this album isn't finished; it's not the masterpiece I expected, nor one that it was logical to expect. Life is strange. But I’ll stop here. Actually, I'm going for a walk; I can't wait to get out of here.

Elliott Smith. An enormously underrated talent. And he always felt it a bit. When he died, I had just begun to love him; my discovery had happened just a few months earlier, and the retrospective search was quick. Little by little, I loved him more and more, and I was discovering him. "Figure 8," the unsurpassed masterpiece.
