I generally agree that Dark Side is overrated. More than anything, compared to the first 3-4 works of Floyd, it’s pitiful, psychedelic music for the ignorant, for those who don't know Saucerful and Interstellar or Krautrock.

I fully agree with the review or wholeheartedly endorse Escher's posts: the problem is simply that they are the most famous, but not even remotely among the most original or innovative of the era. Listen to Sgt. Pepper's (which is nice, yeah…) and the reaction is that of Escher; listen to VU&N and the reaction is "glued to the chair"… (in the car maybe the reaction is a crash… :-)) and the same goes for The Piper (and who cares if Syd used to hum the songs of the Beatles, I also strum Wonderwall at the beach with friends, but my opinion on Oasis is what you all can imagine…).
