Yeah, it’s just like that, unfortunately, jackfromhell. Poletti, instead of having mental turmoil about the fact that the Beatles are unanimously considered the best... listen to the album... do you really like it that much? I mean, compared to the albums of the Love, Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Doors, the same Pink Floyd, or Soft Machine, or 13th Floor, or Velvet Sarcazzo... do you really like it more than all of them? Do you really find it that groundbreaking? For example, I don’t understand why there’s so much talk about Martin’s genius and not about the formidable string arrangements, trumpet, etc. of Forever Changes...

But why shouldn't one say what they think (i.e., downplay the Beatles) here too? I really don't understand these completely out-of-place comments of yours... I'm puzzled.

@davejongilmour: perhaps the reason is that this album and the two good ones that followed should have been credited to Martin instead of The Beatles :-) ... back then there were concerts featuring people like The Who, Cream, Hendrix, etc... probably in concert their true value (which is decent) would have come to light, undermining what appeared on record.

important, but as a cultural phenomenon. the piper is something else. in fact, I perhaps agree that there's something magical in the pauses between one song and another, maybe those are the best moments...nice disco, definitely ahead in production techniques...much prettier than forever change, just to name one in the genre...

The review is entertaining, but I wonder: what should be the role of a record label if not to engage in commercial operations? Once the artistic work has been done, and there are images, videos, etc., why not release the DVD (especially considering, as some say, that nothing had been released for quite some time)? How much would art, the music of Pink Floyd, have gained if the DVD hadn’t been released? Sometimes I just don’t understand these extremes: they are on the same level as those who believe that an artist is much better the more they sell.

perfect record, the right technical complement to the other. the album: well, every now and then you feel that strange urge to listen to it again, urgently... it only happens with great albums... and this one, moreover, becomes more beautiful with each listen.... increasingly beautiful...
