Kate Bush The Sensual World

Well-written review but perhaps a bit too concise for a beautiful album, definitely less "catchy" and flashy than the previous one (a bit like Passion by Gabriel coming after So... I've always found various analogies in the journeys of both artists during those years and not just then) but arranged and performed spectacularly, with complex and fascinating tracks. Surely among my top 3 albums of his... I also believe that his works from the eighties are all superior to the two from the '70s, both in terms of sound and interpretation. On Red Shoes, however, I don't quite agree; for me, it's his least successful album.

Captain concerning Boys For Pele, I was referring not to the critics but rather to the audience of Amos who generally praise that album, which I acknowledge is a good work with some remarkable tracks, but overall it is truly excessively pretentious, a showcase to demonstrate her skill, her complexity as a songwriter and woman... it's too self-indulgent. For once, I agree with the critics who consider it inferior to the first two.
Then of course, if only she were still capable of making albums like that...

I slightly prefer the following Under The Pink, but in the end, the two albums are on par; they are both excellent. I consider them the most focused, least meandering, and above all the most spontaneous and least pretentious (a flaw that undermines much of the verbose Boys For Pele, which I think is a bit overrated).
I have never understood the criticisms from Amos fans regarding China, perhaps a bit too classical in style and with a catchy melody, yet still a very successful and evocative piece, among the most beautiful on the album.

I still really like it a lot, of course it’s still far (in my opinion) from Post and Debut and slightly inferior to Homogenic (which, if it didn't have Joga and Bachelorette, would lose a lot in the overall... well, it’s a matter of taste) but compared to the latest releases, I've found it to be a breath of fresh air, finally a bit of color and variety. I agree, though, that Pneumonia is the best track on the album.

I got the album a couple of months ago, listened to it a few times but then I let it go... it's not bad and it's definitely a step above the disposable female English pop, but still a bit too immature and inconsistent. Besides obvious references to Bush on more than one occasion, she seems to want to mimic Liz Fraser (with results far from the original but still enjoyable). In short, it's clear that this girl has some pretty serious names as benchmarks and not just the usual Britney Spears to emulate. The first track is nice and the last four are beautiful and evocative, but unfortunately, there’s too much bland pop in between and something that even reminded me of Imbruglia. Overall, it's sufficient and, hopefully, worth keeping an eye on for the future.
