Sussan Deyhim, born in Tehran and a resident of New York for years, has a frenetic activity spanning multiple directions. Dancing, acting, directing, audio/visual arts. She was for 15 years the wife (or partner, I don't remember) of Richard Horowitz and has always been immersed in the tangle of New York avant-garde. In the album in question, which I am not familiar with (and I thank you for bringing its release to my attention), I believe she interprets some poems by Sufi authors over classical Persian melodies. (the Persian musical tradition is great) In a way, even though I don't know the work in question, the operation isn't far from what the immense (in every sense) and dearly missed Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan accomplished, despite coming from different paths. I mention Nusrat in case this kind of listening "experiences" interests you and you are not familiar with one of the most formidable voices and approaches of recent decades. I will purchase the album, and thanks again.
