The Beatles Help!

Well, this is really curious: while you were writing your post above, I was writing mine, addressed to you, in that of Sgt. Pepper's...short circuit.

Psychopomps, you reviewed "Forever Changes." I went to read you. Don't waste time with Scaruffi. Only a deaf person by "alternative-encyclopedic" vocation could fail to notice that it's the best of Love. It doesn’t seem appropriate to accept the opinion of a deaf person as a starting point for any conversation about the Beatles. I'm sorry, though, for this somewhat excessive adherence of some to his outbursts, and maybe you’re right in your attempt at clarity... Good luck.

No, let's not talk about it. It's really impossible to come to terms with it; it's precisely the approach to the issue that I do not agree with. I've read Scaruffi. For now, that's enough for me. It's such an oppressive and reductive way of "listening" not only to music but to the world that I fear asphyxiation.
For the sake of basic proportionality and some of the same arguments put forth by poor Scaruffi, that 2 you give would plunge thousands of subsequent records well below zero, with which, probably, you are much less drastic if not even enthusiastic. But I understand the need to introduce corrosive elements against institutions of any kind. The Beatles had a bit of that effect on me, many years ago. I’m at least as old as Scaruffi, I believe, but I haven’t embarked on the attempt to catalog the world according to my personal gospel. Thus, I often find myself changing my mind, re/listening, sometimes understanding and seeing and hearing things that before... And thank goodness I didn’t want to talk about it! But now I swear that’s it. I’m fading away.
Anyway, regarding the Beatles: every Sca(r)uffone is beautiful to his own mother.

We’re not on the same page here, though. And you might have noticed that I appreciate both the title choices and the quality of the reviews. But if you give Gentlemen a 5 and this a 4, I can’t agree. I would switch the scores. Of course, it’s a matter of taste. It’s also a bit about timing. I’ve followed them from the beginning, and I have to tell you that when Tin Drum came out, I was surprised that they had taken another step forward. But if I listen to them now, there’s no doubt, there’s no comparison. It’s really a matter of sound, of song structure, of maturity or whatever the hell you want to call it. Well, I can be stubborn sometimes. Sorry.

I was passing by and found this last comment from K. It has the same effect on me. Seminal is the liquid. Where to spread it is left to the discretion of the gentlemen. But I was here for the FEELIES. For THIS FEELIES record. It's among the best-preserved vinyls I have, and it still sounds original and unique. The others are nice and interesting. But THIS one is worth a... insemination. Nice catch, egebamyasi.

Did you listen to it, Kosmo? I liked it. But I don't have it anymore, like so many others, too naively lent out.

But have you ever seen the video? If not, well, watch it if you get the chance, because you won't see anything like it again. A song like that, the anthem of bliss, plunged into such an atmosphere, sung by those two perched on the chairs (I think)... It makes me feel such tenderness...
