The album is nice. They are a bunch of "cazzoni" capable of some melodic intuitions that are far from contemptible; I even kind of like the singles, I've hummed "boulevard" a few times. Of course, if we have to bring up the "political" side of the matter, it becomes embarrassing...

Enk, several years ago I met him outside a concert, really curious and interesting (there were just a handful of us) with the hanger of his stunning "stage" outfit on his shoulder and looking quite "lost." We talked for a bit, then I had to leave and pointed him to the nearest pizzeria... I watched him walk, a bit zigzagging, under the streetlights, and he seemed to be in one of those metropolitan and nocturnal tunes that he had just blown out of his instrument... I believe I remember he was also in Jarmush's earlier films. Such a great face.

You did more, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, you transcribed the text among the comments to the rec. of Night & Day, one of the many jewels deposited by Socrates in DeB. It's also one of my "favorites." I don't know this live, which however encompasses the best period of his discography, and the review is exhaustive and convincing; it would probably be an excellent approach. Perhaps, however, even for a novice, it’s still best to listen to N&D.

Socrates, good morning. I understand the enthusiasm, I know the high regard this record enjoys, but... over time I've come to reconsider it, and I believe the ambition of the project has "weighed it down," even without being able or wanting to question all the good you say (and feel) about it. A greeting to the gangly thirteen-year-old next to the jukebox, whom you still happen to meet...

Ege, when are you going to give this a 5? There’s so much personality and originality here that if you sift through the discography of those years, you won’t find it easily. And are you going to review all the "my" records now? Today I've already seen two, and they were two milestone pieces back then, for certain enthusiasts... Well, I should have expected it, unflappable and metronomic, remember? :)

Ege, here, for the originality of the proposal and for Teo Macero's production (a great character, among other works he produced, for example, Bitches Brew by M. Davis, and some of his own works are really "curious"), the 5 is a must. The review, this time, is a bit less convincing. Harlem Nocturne should be considered a standard in every sense, and there was something in this record that was more and different from the "playful" attitude. Perhaps this severity comes from the fact that you stole a review from me that I intended to write calmly one fine day :) - To continue with the little saga of the "lost," I’ll tell you that I lent the vinyl to a DJ who, coincidentally, among many others, was robbed of just that one...
